florida right they grow bannas there .they set traps for snakes were i live because they have to much marshland and the snakes are like suppperr overpoplutaing .
Plastic is horrible horrible horrible for gerbils. They can gnaw through the tubes, gnaw on wires and get Red Nose, plus there's bad ventilation. And they can't properly burrow. True the tubes give them burrowing systems, but imagine your life planned out for you. You should get an aquarium. It's easy to clean, safe, you can put more bedding it, and overall gerbils have a heck of a lot fun, instead of running back and forth through tubes YOU created for them.
Thats your opinion on plastic cages. But i don't think that there horrible, some small cages are horrible because there is not enough room to move around in. I agree they can gnaw threw the tubes, but it would take them a very long time before they make a whole to escape. All my cages are plastic and i have lots of tubing. Check my cage out, and see if you say the same...
It's not only my opinion, it's been proven that plastic cages are not the best way to hold a gerbil. And it does take a while for them to escape, except when they chew on it all day. They can fit in about a 3 quarters of an inch hole, and even if they don't chew it all the way through, they can still take off bits and pieces that they can swallow and it can cause blockage, leaving them seriously ill, or dead. It's your choice for your gerbils, but I would consider their health before anyting.
Well your the only person who i know that thinks that. Im not disagreeing that the can chew their way out, because they can. They wouldnt chew there way out if they had enough stimulation. Obviously you dont give them that for them to chew it.
@Sadyize101 err but aquariums have their downfall too, poor ventillation. Which is not good when the gerbils are already living in their own feces pretty much till you clean the cage, it is already extremely stuffy, aquariums can make them much stuffier, Besides that I thinnk the room is the biggest problem! that is a pretty small cage for two gerbils in my opinion
@Sadyize101 i have 2 plastic, 1 wire and one tank with another tank on the way all conntected with tubes and i spend everyday watching the duct tape, (the duct tape connects two brands of tubes together and is not in the way that could be chewed) and watching were they chew plastic would you say that is ok plus they never chew on the wires
one, they are gerbils, idiot, and two, I have gerbils in my Habitrail cages and they're just fine. So don't start saying lies before you know the truth
I have 2 of these cages, the habitrail playgroudn and safari and TONS of tubes but whenever i use the tubes they like just stay in the tubes and i cant get them out what do i do?
can someone please tell me how they drink water from there i have one and i dont know how it drinks water so please messege or reply to commnent messege me please
Thanks its almost the basic kit, i would like it was bigger, but unfortunately they are imported products round here and are very expensive... :( but i will provide a link to an aquarium tank soon, so they have plenty space to play :)
