I'm a mountain biker and I don't know what you guy's are pissing and moaning about.... There is stunning legit tracks everywhere yet you insist on making more it seems to piss people off. that is the typical attitude that gives us a bad name and just pisses us off that does this for a living or seriously for just laughs. I see this first hand living less than a mile from Jacobs Ladder England yet you get morons thinking they can destroy natural habitats in the name of fun. Get a grip guys!!!!!!
@mtbrider256 your comment proves that mt bikers have an attitude that rules don't apply to you and you can do whatever you feel like doing. There are names for people like you...."defendants".
What a jack ass!! No wonder the Gov't agencies are in debt waging wars on the highly dangerous, and malicious Mountian bikers!! As I know 1st hand, (true) MTBers are some of the most conservational enthusiasts out there, and yes that tiny rock garden and a little loose dirt is soooo dangerous, as far as the Eagles go uhhh they have wings and the gift of flight enough said so ensure your 4 wheeler you used to get out there has plenty of gas in it and FUCK OFF!!!
I honestly dont see the problem with building trails on other people's property... if you arent gonna use the land, then why care if someone builds a trail?
wow, the government and laws r so fucking gay these days!!!!! who gives a fuck if a golden eagle dies! (which it is highly unlikely) we dont need them to survive so therefore, who gives a fuck? not me
typical governmen/elite scum attitude." oh there's eagles, we must close this to everyone except our scientist friends and maybe a developer in the future if the price is right".
its a ride at ur own risk and really ppl wont hike that shit and boo fucking who last time i check eagles dont walk on the ground they fly every where
Mountain bikers are the same everywhere. They just don't comprehend the potential negative impacts their activities can have on an ecosystem. Check out my video of an illegal biker caught red handed. Bikers will hate it. Hunters/ environmentalists will love it.
Holy shit it looks like the Appalachian trail which runs through wilderness from fucking Georgia to Maine with no impact on wildlife or soil. Killjoy hippie
dangerous is "technical" - cool, built by hand - shows initiative, undistracted from those noisy golden eagles while they nest - shows focus, all in all I'd say these savage trail builders are industrious , hard working and adventure loving people................ God bless America ! Piss off to all tree huggers !!
Yes, If you are going to ban MTB's you need to ban hikers also if you don't want a trail to be near eagle nests. The trail can quicken soil erosion due to lack of ground cover. Hikers and MTB's on the trail disturb any wildlife in the area. To the others commenting, stick to the issue and don't make show your insecurities and make personal attacks.
lmao... OMG! a single track dirt trail cutting through the woods! ppl enjoying themselves! ban it! Then lets take our suv down the interstate and act like that didn't have any effect on animals habitat.
@sensfan22 I agree with you on that, but it says mountain bike trail in the video, and the tracks were too small to be a dirt bike tire marks. I really dont get why they made such a fuss about it.
Is the area closed to mtbers or to everyone? Becoz if it is open to hikers then dont give me that environmental BS! Btw, this is coming from an avid mountain biker and a well respected environmental activist in my community
@sensfan22 I have to agree. If hiking is somehow okay, what is wrong with MTB'ing the trail. One could argue my motorcycle might somehow cause the eagles not to nest, although I bet even that they would not care too much while high up in the trees.
@modette99 The thing with motorcycles is that they make lots of noise, don't get me wrong, I love dirt bikes and all my friends have em but they r very loud and many animals r sensitive to noise pollution. Whether it would bother the eagles to the point of not nesting I honestly dont know
Recently Rangers In The Boulder Area Uncovered What Appears To Be An "Illegal MTB Trail. Investigators say this is another, in what appears to be a recent flood of illegal operations that can be linked directly to "Illegal" and what authorites are now calling extremely dangerous Biking Cartel's. If you happen to see any suspicious trail buiding, Authorites Urge you not to try and directly intervene. Bwaaahaahaa, Sooo Gay

@prswhore Tell me smartass, whens the last time uve opposed a development over environmentally significant lands, wat bout opposing roads being built in environmentally significant lands, or gravel hiking paths being built there? Just to let u know just becoz something means illegal doesnt mean its wrong to do it, same goes just becoz something is legal doesnt mean its right to do it. In fact the law and ethics have absolutely nothing to do with 1 another
Listen Youngster, Being twice your age and an active fighter in saving the eagle river and countless others in my beloved Rocky Mtns, I'v got a lot more room to have a sense of humor about all of this stuff than you do. Pull your head out of your 23 year old ass, take out some more student loans and lighten up.
@prswhore older doesnt mean wiser. btw dont talk bout spelling when i try to fit a book long comment within 500 characters. Attacking 1s spelling is a real cheap shot & only furthers ur lack of intelligence. I live in a bio-diverse area that is being destroyed by developers. I have cycled 2000 km to raise awareness for it. I have very actively participated in the occupy movement. I am an environmental activist, do u have this experience? Dont insult my intelligence becoz of my age.
My Only Point Was That I have sense of Humor about all this stuff, and your a stuffy hippy that takes his shit way too seriously.
I think you insult your intelligence all on your own by participating in the poly directional circus called the occupy movement. By actively participating do you mean, sleeping on the sidewalk, wasting the time of law enforcement to babysit the squatters and holding signs that say no more corporate bail outs, 911 was a lie and FEMA is The AntiChrist?
@prswhore To anyone with brains it is obvious how ignorant u r. Read ur own comments. Try coming up with an educated response based on statistics and scientific data rather then spewing ignorant BS ur idiot box told u. Have u ever even tried going down to any Occupation? Have u talked to any of the people there? Have u tried dealing with the many issues we had to deal with? Like mental illnesses and suicidal people who have no where else to go?
Bikes dig trenches, which make it easy for water to flow faster. Hikers plant holes which have obstructions unless there are hundreds of hikers. The obstructions slow the errosive water and so are less damaging. Also, mountain bikers tend to go further and so damage is more widespread. Bikers also kick large amounts of dirt around in the same way that downhill skiers kick snow off trails. Long before the end of a day the alpine skiers will have kicked all but the hardpack off the trail.
We had a great illegal bike trail that was in a wilderness protected area for over ten years. Now the entire area was bought out and is now a strip mall
@cisco114813 Ya, same is happening where I live, great mtb trails in an environmentally sensitive land which is now being destroyed to make way for a new subdivision. People dont realize but mtb trails for the most part arent all that environmentally unfriendly, I would worry a lot more about logging or urban sprawl or resource extraction like oil and natural gas
how is riding a bike damaging to the environment there are lots of hazards on this track lol if there wasn't it would be a boring track lol in the uk its called get a bike and ride the blody thing where ever you want as long as your not riding on crops etc its fine bike are environmentally friendly FACT bmx road or mtb or other makes no difference
I can see their point....... And it's pretty obvious...... But does mountain biking disturb the enviorment as much as they say it does? And if so... How? Eagels are way up in their nests and they hunt near lakes, rivers, streams and open medows. Mountain biker's are below riding the trails. Hikers cause just as much distrubance to the enviorment. BY THE WAY.... THAT TRAIL LOOKED TOTALLY SICK!!!!! I WOULD HAVE GIVEN IT A TRY!!!!! SWEET!!!! :)
hahaha the way he trailed up at the each of every sentence made it sound like a long series of questions. "This is in a habitat conservation area? Which is our highest level of protection for the environment? Furthermore there are golden eagles nesting?"
Another question is why doesn't Boulder have more MTB trails, and motorcycle trails? The town is very Anti anything other then hiking, pretty much got to drive a Prius living there. I think I'll go ride Rollins Pass now :-P
Typical Boulder BS. I don't even ride MTB's anymore (since I was a kid) but using the eagles as an scapegoat is just laughable. I bet the eagles did not CARE one bit while they are up high in their nest. If the eagles are so sensitive why are you in there on foot? Should ban hikers too, if its that sensitive of an area...oh and did you hike to the illegal trail by way of a legal trail or did you just blaze your own trail?
@modette99 The trial went through an area that was closed seasonally for breeding eagles. The interview was done on part of the trail that is outside of the closure.
If you add the mileage of that trail to all the legal mountain biking trails in Boulder does it equal the mileage of illegal hiking trails in Boulder? This is so sad, why is this news? There are probably a 100 miles of illegal "social" trails created by hikers in Boulder.
upset that his small amount of authority has been trampled? make more legal trails in boulder or make this a legal trail. in general acting maturely is the way to go.
