I personally have nothing against the guy because hell, who wouldn't want some of the success he's had (except for the fact that Blink's music blows) but too many aspiring drummers who Travis has inspired have confused his good rock drumming with an exceptional talent like Jojo Mayer. In no universe is Travis in the conversation of great drummers with people like Jojo.
i wonder what goes on the guy's mind if he goes joggin,imagine when he hears his footsteps...he probably then adjust to have a syncopation between each foot

@skiddlecrumms come on now theres no "best of" drummers or musicians in the world everyone obviously plays differently in different styles and to say Neil Peart is overatted is true to a very slight degree. People say Peart is the fastest or most technical drummer in the world and they're wrong but he's still incredible in how he composes songs on drums musically and how he uses dynamics in his drumming. Plus I dont think anyone is denying that Jojo is as close to perfect as it gets

I dont think anyone can argue that Neil is faster or more technically proficient than Jojo cause the guys incredible especially his drum and bass stuff. Its just that its not as if Neil is any run of the mill drummer and the best thing I enjoy about his playing is when he can lay back and let the song sing instead of overplaying.
@madmarzian86 True they are are different styles but I would say Jojo is far more a master at the craft. Mike Portnoy plays one of Pearts solos note for note. You gotta respect that jojo is in his own league of drummers.
I like Neil and respect his great influence and drumming, but as far as musicality and overall motion/physical aspects, he's not even on the same planet as freaks like Jojo.
@skiddlecrumms I think Jojo and Peart are working towards 2 very different things in their performances - and I also would believe that both have tremendous respect for the other in what the other has accomplished with regards to what they are trying to do.

Have you heard him play pleasure control? I feel it is pretty reserved and musical. In some of his other videos he is very reserved not just from a jojo standpoint but a musical standpoint. However, your argument does have validity

my guess is the only venue you've heard him play in are clinics and festivals... for drummers hence the emphasis on the technical side. he has come out and said that he doesn't want to be the drum and bass guy and is trying to get away from doing "this shit all the time"
