i live in stroudsburg pa. and i seen the tornado hit my friend ryan gallaghers house and i couldnt believe we actually had a tornado in the stroudsburg area
dude i use to live right near their. i would always joke around and b liek what if a tornado came rippping threw these fields. and their al lliek haha yea right.. but right when i move.. look what happens.
I live in East Stroudsburg, PA and when I heard about the Tornado I was completely shocked, since we don't get them very often because of the mountains. My prayers and best wishes go out to everyone affected by this <33
A tornado in the Poconos, i live in long pond and my husband said something about there being tornado warnings and i laughed at him and said we don't have tornadoes in the Poconos, i guess i was wrong :-(
Yesterday at around 8 pm, we were driving to Allentown, and right by the Blue Mt., there was a tornado, I guess it hit somewhere in a secluded area ( thank God).
I live in Lansford, Pennsylvania and this storm came right through my town, it set it's sites on Jim Thorpe where they had golf ball sized hail. Half hour later I see a Tornado Warning for Carbon and Monroe County and I was confused, I turn on Newswatch 16 and they show the same storm that crossed through was no producing a tornado. Not much warning for you guys in Cherry Valley, if the Red Cross is accepting donations or anything for the people there, somebody please message me.
The Storm Prediction Center usually issues a tornado watch when there's a 5% or greater probability for tornadoes. That was the case today, but they didn't issue a tornado watch. Between this incredible damage (probably EF3) and another tornado in New York, I think they really dropped the ball today.
The damage to that house is no more than weak EF2. The totally destroyed strcutre is a barn and an EF0 can do a cumber on a barn. A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favorable for sever wx, tornadoes can and sometimes do develop even when conditions are prime for them. They did not drop the ball, at all. Read up some before trying to blame them on any level. This was a localized event, not a widespread tornado event, which constitutes no tornado watch.
Yeah, they classified it as an EF2 with 120 mph winds, only 15 mph off of EF3. There was also an EF1 in Maryland, another EF2 in New Jersey, and an EF0 in New York. There were also two separate tornado warnings in Virginia, though nothing touched-down. One or two tornadoes I'd say ok, but 4 tornadoes, two of which were EF2, over that stretch of territory when they had it at a 5% probability, I think they should've issued a watch. I will say that they're doing fine today though.
