It does, in fact, have several dealings with the gods. I could go into a detailed explanation, but to make things short, it's the gods being placed upon earth in human forms that barely resemble what they once were, all of such was Odin's doing. Anyway, yes it does, you'd have to watch a few episodes to understand it completely.
