  • does your fc twin still work fine?

  • @Saiyaman64 Yep! I use it as my primary SNES/NES system as well (it saves space!). No problems so far!

  • Thanks for the upload :)

  • @ariba1888 No problem--Thanks for watching! :)

  • Do you know if the updated ones have a different model number or not? I want to find one of these but I want the updated version if I can possibly find it.

  • @bgirl19872 Unfortunately, I do not know the answer to this. Someone below mentioned that you can tell by the date on the bottom of the system (mine is 2007). I am not certain if you can tell just by looking at the packaging though.

  • Are japanese famicon games compatable with this console?

  • @TheScorpionMK37 I do not know. My guess is, probably, as long as you have a proper converter, but I'm not 100% sure.

  • @austinmackert - Famicom games do work on the FC Twin with a converter.

By the way, Austin, do NES games sound distorted on your FC Twin? My first FC Twin from 2007 has clean NES audio, but my new FC Twin purchased early this year has VERY loud and garbled NES audio(not to the extent of the RetroDuo, though. That thing outputs almost total distortion with NES games when stock).

Also, could you check the year indicated on the holographic sticker under your console?

  • @Ace9921 The sound, um, 'sounds' fine on mine. I don't hear any distortion as far as I can tell. Albeit, it is a couple years old now.. *goes and checks the bottom of the system* ... Looks like mine was leftover 2007 stock, according to the sticker! :)

  • @austinmackert - It's just like my first FC Twin. Its sticker had 2007 on it. The new one I have says 2011 on the sticker. The Super NES side's chipset actually changed a bit. They're the same three TCT-97x chips as before, but they shrunk them down to the size of the TCT-6801 GOAC in the RetroN3. The controllers are a hell of a lot better too and the packaging is completely different(there's a non-shrink-wrapped plastic tray instead of shrink-wrapped cardboard tray).

  • @Ace9921 Ooooh, that's nice to know about the controllers. The ones with mine don't seem to be all that great.

  • Has anyone ever had a problem to where it would play the sounds of the SNES but it wouldn't display the video and the tv screen would just sit as if nothing was ever turned on?

  • @spudninja12 Haven't experienced that issue myself. Have you tried different carts (both NES and SNES), as well as perhaps swapping out your Audio/Video cabling?

  • @austinmackert Yeah i tried both and the funny thing is, is that the NES displays but not the SNES and i have tried using 3 different cables as well as three different tvs the i bought the system new so i feel as though im out of luck in some degree.

  • @spudninja12 Hmm.. If you just bought it, I recommend returning wherever you got it from. I haven't had any issues with the various FC Twins I've owned over the years, but I have heard stories of others having issues with them. It sounds like you may just have a defective unit. :(

  • gimme it

  • Does it play Famicon games by any chance?

  • @DellamorteDellamore0 Not out of the box. It may with a converter, but I do not have one to test it.

  • @austinmackert Hmmm.... Would the Gyromite mod trick work?

  • @DellamorteDellamore0 Haha, well, it is a converter, so I think it should work. :)

  • @austinmackert Coolish, I'm in the transition of immigrating to Europe and I'm thinking of investing in one of these to help cut on shipping 4 systems. Thank you very much for your help again, sir.

  • @DellamorteDellamore0 Ah, cool. It's definitely good for consolidating. I've personally been using it as my primary NES/SNES system for quite a while now and don't usually run into compatibility/graphical/sound issues. It's been getting the job done, especially considering the limited space I have here. :)

  • @austinmackert I'd hate to bother you again, and flood this video with comments, but would you happen to know of any kind of converter/ and or trick to play PAL games on and NTSC system?

  • @DellamorteDellamore0 Hm, that's a good question.. I do not know the answer to that (although I should), but do a quick search on the NintendoAge forums and you should find your answer. :)

  • But, uhm. Yeah!

  • I have been wanting one of these, but I ordered an updated RetroN 3 and it plays all of my games. It's a great system. I reccomend getting some original NES, SNES, and Genesis controllers due to the poor quality of the wireless in box controllers. Otherwise I highly recommend it.

  • @jeff97ish Yes, the newer RetroN 3 has a newer NOAC in it. It's definitely the way to go.

  • @austinmackert - Newer, yes, but it's less accurate than the FC Twin or the RetroDuo. It's also less compatible than the RetroDuo as After Burner has severe graphical errors on the newer RetroN3 and the system has problems with several NES controllers. It's decent, but a modded RetroDuo is better.

Another thing: the Super NES side of the RetroN3 Version 2 is God awful. It works with everything I've thrown at it, but the sound is just unbearably loud and distorted. Just. F***ing. Nasty.

  • You must buy a 110/240 volt US to UK Transformer, if you wish to buy this if you live in the UK. I bought one and the system and it works great.

  • @prjr1094 It plays the majority of both libraries. There are games that do not work, but only a small percentage of each library falls into this category.

  • would you be able to buy it with a UK ac adapter??

  • @slimsanta100 Probably not. You would need to get an external converter.

  • how long is the cable for the controller?

  • Can it play famicom games?

  • @jmg819 Not without an adapter, but I am fairly certain it will play them with one.

  • This thing is junk, all I get is a blank screen.

  • @LordPopeyeAlphaDog That sucks man. Provided it's hooked up properly, it sounds like you might have a dud. I have had multiples of these over the years and haven't had any problems myself, so try to return it if you can--your next one will most-likely be fine.

  • Your videos are very helpful, thyank you.

  • @TheLongTimeObserver No problem! :)

  • which is more recommended FC twin or retro duo. Christmas is coming up and i want one that plays SNES Donkey kong country trilogy not famicom. I found it doesnt play them but says PAL what does that mean?

  • is it true that it cant play certain games?? some reviews on amazon are saying that..

    Any Help Would Be Great*

    -Thanks: Majora

  • @XMajorasMaskX Yes it's true.. But you get what you pay for, if that's how you want to look at it. All in all though a large majority of NES and SNES games DO play. You should be able to find a compatibility list via searching Google (I believe there is even one on Wikipedia).

  • can this play super gameboy gameS?

  • @wesley12106 I'm not sure. I believe the Super GB worked on my Retro DUO, but I never tested it on the FC Twin.

  • My brother found an actual Play N' Trade console called FC Dual at a yard sale for only 5 dollars (with 3 SNES games) and bought it for me. I never even knew Play N' Trade HAD a console all of their own? And I feel so fortunate and lucky to own it. Best part is that it works with no problems.

  • @MrHossCartwright Yes, they have their own clone console. I had two of them, and both had controller port problems within the first week or two of owning them. I don't recommend them at all.. If yours works, consider yourself lucky. :(

  • what are the a and b buttons for NES on the fc twin?

  • hey thanks alot i wasnt sure if i was going to buy this but your video guaranteed my

    purchase thank you

  • @qmaster93 Hey, no problem! Of the multitudes of clone systems I have owned, I feel this one is still the best choice available, and you can get them fairly cheap, too. Good luck with your purchase! :)

  • @austinmackert so which is better fc twin or retro duo i only want it to play snes games.

  • cant play Maniac Mansion on this piece of shit

  • @whorethrower or doom, star fox, super ghouls and goblins, and kirby 3. SUCKS!!

  • @vansrok1 Yeah.. I recommend people look at a compatibility list before they buy one. 98% of the games ARE compatible, but some people seem to NEED that *one* game.. It's OK, I'm the same way. ;D

  • @austinmackert Well it's okay I was going to buy one of these but yesterday I bought a SNES, two controllers, Doom, and Mortal Kombat at a flea market for 40 dollars. I would tell anyone who is thinking about buying these to just search around for a used SNES, you can get them for cheap!

  • VorteX! Nice ;D Very nice video. It was really interesting. And Batman has an amazing soundtrack right there!

  • Thanks man! You will definitely be hearing more about Batman. Its soundtrack does kick some serious ass, too. :D

  • holy shit bro, this video looks like cloverfield

  • Hahaha... Nice one :)
