  • 12 month old IWs are like 14 year old boys. Nothing fits like it will when they mature.

  • Head seems a bit on the small side and is does not fit well into the neck. Looks like there might be a little Scottish Deerhound in the blood line. Regardsless, it is wonderful to see him cavort.

  • @electricslipper lol, I can assure that Merlin is pure Wolfhound and qualified for Crufts, Merlin has been looked over by top class judges and I have never heard such silly remarks.

  • @RATTER15 you both sound like snobby faggots. its a dog not a toy for show and tell

  • @theFuturetrojan >>snobby faggots<< how intelligent lolol. Merlin is a our pet he is treated as our pet along with our two other Wolfhounds. Where have I indicated that we have him for any other reason? Yes we have shown him and yes we have discussed his build and attributes, does that mean we think any less of him. You have just made a very silly and child like remark, go away and grow up please.

  • @RATTER15 Looks totally like a wolfy to me, gangly legs out of proportion, tail too long, ears all over the place........that's how they come from the factory electricslipper!

  • @electricslipper What is formal name of "Merlin?"

  • @electricslipper I laughed out loud when I read your comment after viewing the video. How many IWs have you been around? This is an excellent example of a 12mo old. Great chest depth, tight tuck, and BEAUTIFUL HEAD. He clearly gets good exercise and isn't as lanky as I've seen many pups. Good on ya Merlin!

  • @MrFreneticFred I agree about the chest and tuck...However, the head, at least in the video, seems on the small side. Otherwise, a splendid beast.

  • @electricslipper For the first two years, all the pieces are moving in close formation. The tail drags the floor one week then the legs come in and there's 3 inches clearance. Our wolfhounds heads only started broadening in the later parts of the second year (there's a bump on the occipital early on that tends to disappear as the skull broadens). Each dog grows differently. Merlin seems very muscular for a 12 mo old, so that may be why the head appears "small" to you--but I don't see it.

  • awesome name

  • This is just like our female wolfhound sorcha :) shes 2 years old and she likes to chase and play with our mini dachshund like shes prey although we stop her every time because our doxie is so small compared to her. all wolfhounds have that natural preey instict to chase and and pin down, just be carefull they dont get outa hand.

  • Gosh this makes me happy. I'm a college student in America, and I miss my dogs so very much while I'm at my studies. It's videos like this one that make me smile when I'm feeling really low :)

  • Is this in Ireland?

  • Lol topcat, ours beat a hasty retreat when the hoover comes out as well.

Mr Wilverine, I cant say I remember seeing you on Instow beach, we go theere most days now with our 3 wolfhounds. :-)

  • My wolfhound is scared of the hover

  • Wow nice wolfie! We used to have an Irish Wolfhound and lived in Devon too!

We took him for walks on Instow beach all the time - a great place for one of these creatures to cause a stir :P maybe you saw him about 5 years ago?

  • Merlin keeps on being attracted to the water. Very funny to see his play.

  • They're having the best time ever!!! Dogs just love being on beaches where they can just run. Merlin is beautiful. I'd love to have a Wolfhound, but I just don't have the space or the time to give it what it would need to be happy so I have to make do looking at these beautiful dogs on the internet.

  • so beautiful

  • Yes -your boys remind me of our two girls - Angelina is a five year old Brindle and Coleen is a 3 year old Wheaton! Angelina is recovering from a fx tiblia tho - they chased after a froggie in the dark and we believe Coleen probably stepped on Anglina's right rear paw when it was stretched back - a freak accidnet. So Angelina is slowed down a bit until she heals - - -

  • This is a great video showing how the gentle IWs can play with the smaller dogs - where is Devon --- Conn? England? Maureen

  • Hi Cassidy, Woolfies are such gentle dogs, we never have any worries about them playing with dogs of any size, however we do control them a little when playing with little pups, they are so gentle but 56 + kilos accidentally landing on such young bones can do damage. Devon is situated in the South west of England, a really beautiful part of the country.

  • 1:08 Little dog: Oh crap oh crap oh crap....safe!!!

  • O)O He is absolutely Beautiful!!! I recently had a client that looked much like an irish wolfhound but it was actually a mastiff & sheepdog mix...which is what Irish Wolfhounds were created with anyway so...

I have her in a few of my videos (not that I'm pimping) but it's funny the similarities!

  • @Furnifur

actually wolfhounds were re bread back in the day with the deer hound, great dane, mastiff, grey hound. they have kept there shaggy coats and great size. they were not bread with sheepdogs lol that would be one crazy dog..... !

  • Well our Merlin (on this video) is a lovely 15 month old boy now and is really gentle with our new puppy, his half brother Gilligan, who is just 9 weeks old. Ratter15 and I have ordered a new camcorder, so hopefully we will be able to post videos of the two together soon. They give us immense joy every day and make our little family whole! lol.

  • This video is so adorable! I like the whole friends meeting friends :) She is very playful!! And quite large too!!

  • "HE" please, Merlin is male lol Thank You, we meet on the beach everyday, we now have our Irish Wolfhound Puppy but my Cam Corder has died Grrr so I cant vid of him on here at the moment.

  • Hahaha oeps sorry HE!!!

    I couldn't really tell :P

Aww is your puppy a she or a he? and whats her/his name?

  • The new puppy is called Gilligan, he will be on here as soon as we get our new Camcorder, he is Wheaten coloured and keeps attacking anything that moves lol.

  • A lovely boy having a lovely time. Wonderful.
