There's a paper on the subject of emissions from digesters: "The Management of Household Food Waste" by Dr Alan Knipe Under the section "Operational Biogenic Emissions" in a correctly installed and used food waste digester aeorobic conditions are maintained. It states "Any small amounts of CH4 possibly produced due to a pocket of oxygen starvation would be reabsorbed and oxidised in the below ground digestion basket". Its a simple way to stop it going to landfill with all the issues that raises.
