Don't be so eager for recognition that you indiscriminately teach everyone, or you will regret it. With knowledge and power comes responsibility. Kalari is now gaining some exposure in the west and it's only a matter of time before you start to receive students who are not from local villages who are not simple. You should carefully select those who have good character only. The traditional way is to not teach anything, but only observe for 1 year, as a minimum. Jaya Sri Krsna! Jaya Sri Rama!
Remember how Parasurama drove the "irreligious kshatriyas" out of India 18 times, and who do you think those irreligious warriors were? The Norse men, the whites. Are the whites virtuous and religious today? Nearly all are not. Remember Drona and Eklavya. Some students should not be taught knowledge, secrets and power, they will only misuse. In the end, it's either about the $, the glamour and prestige, or it's about the art, duty, virtue, Dharma.
These people practice as a matter of duty and tradition. I am from the West, and I am Westerner, so I know the West' mentality. They will do it for glamour, for $, and for false pride and false ego in fighting. Blacks will just imitate whatever the Whites do. I think as a requirement the Kalari masters should not agree to teach anyone who does not worship and chant the Holy names of Vishnu, Krsna, otherwise what good will teaching outsiders do? You should remember where the art comes from...
Speaking from exp in Wing Chun, I pray they never teach their art to the rest of the world. Out of compassion I know they will, and just like Wing Chun in the end, 99.99% of the time the world will cheat, pretend, and sell garbage for $. In the end, nothing short of an act of God will help one find a good master, who has mastered the art, and is willing to teach, and 99.99% of the time you'll then only find such a master in some obscure village in India. Nothing changes.
