what the philippines government's doing today is they're studying the need of aircraft carrier and submarine... and yes a 217 billion pesos are already on the negotiating table and it's a 100 yr to pay to the US. they're planning to get the USS george h.w. bush but it's a 20 yr planning it might not going to happen but the submarine yes it will before 20yrs frm now. but good news USA might give us 12 F-16 and 2 battle ships this year and last year they gave us $15 million in military assistance.

@optimus71800 You're talking as if you know everything about the philippines. We have enough fund to modernize our Armed Forces anytime. The thing is we don't need it. We are good tempered people and we look for ways to solve any conflicts in the most peaceful manner. However, if China will give us enough reason to fight back the Administration is willing to spend money for it. I hope that it will not reach to that certain point.

@chnook5 its funny cause its true :)) but hey, theres no need to rush in the modernization of our country's armed forces since we wont really need it due to the lack of an outside enemy. Our boys fighting off in the south are doing a pretty damn good job considering they are just armed with vietnam war era equipments. Rest assured modernization of our armed forces is ongoing but bear in mind our country has other problems such as poverty and corruption so dont expect to see any radical changes

How would you expect thais to defeat philippine military when they can't even beat low equipped cambodians. For obvious reason malaysia won't attack. They can use their limitted jet fighter to destryo selected targets but their ass will be whooped once our military cross their boundary.
