@leperconism That's a lot for internals... I assume you know how to correctly shim, adjust AoE, etc? I'd hate to see a gearbox with that much money put into it fail because of bad tuning..
I bought an A47 R3X model and that thing does 550 FPS with a RaD hop up chamber and 4.57-3.79 F-Type. It has a Z404 Scope with flourescent 6 by 7 guidelines. @GigaGrim 80 yards away, an AEG, 60% is better than I've ever seen at that range. That being said, my field limits semi-auto DMR's to 450 fps...but I have a feeling even at 450 fps this gun would be nailing targets at 70-80 meters.

I agree with spywell. I have only added a madbull 6.01x407mm tighbore in my otherwise stock echo 1 M4 and ive gotten kills out to 260 feet (90 yards apx) and in semi (2-3 shots) you did overdo it. at 509mm barrels the bb is going as straight as its going to go. any longer is unessesary. in fact last game the only shot I missed was when the bb skimed through a guys hair (doesnt count here) at 170 feet. what really counts is a quality hop, seals, scope and barrel.
Looks like you really over did it, I only have $20 into my GG gr16 and it shoots over 500fps with an m130 spring...
If you actually stop and think about it, fps is dependant on spring, cylinder volume, piston weight, air seal and barrel length. You dumped all your money into looks and bragging rights/brand names while you actually handicapped your rifle (long barrel/silencer, scope).
GET A HARD TYPE!!!! The soft one is going to be absolutely destroyed after a while! Trust me! Firefly hard buckings are very nice I recommend them all the way!
I just got my DMR upgraded to 500 fps and I'm engaging 250 ft with about 1/2 to 1/3 shot accuracy on a torso sized tree.
I'm currently using a Prometheus soft bucking and am wondering if a Hard type bucking will increase my accuracy. How do you like your firefly bucking and would you recommend it over other high end buckings?
@shaotiger82 I'd take a hard bucking, and install the IER-Hop by hunterseekerarmories . That will give you the compression benefit of the hard bucking, together with the accuracy benefit of the R Hop.
Surely your cylinder volume isn't equal to the volume of your barrel so your accuracy and velocity should start to drop off before the BB has even exited the barrel.
@SaitekFreak999 I know what you mean. My DE AEP can go out to 40 yards and its stock @ 190 FPS. I find it hilarious that everybody shells out cash for names rather than just simply change the o-ring on the piston head to gain 30 fps.
@hmg9194 LOL, I was actually sitting here thinking HMMM. Yeah, 80 yards would be a LOT further than that... and just to recap on our Math - 3 feet = 1 yard. Each step is most likely 1 and a half - 2 feet at most depending on how tall he is... therefor you're most likely right on your judgement call. I'd say anywhere from 150-165'.

@splintercell186 haha? Not really^^ A 500 FPS 40 RPS gun can do that, if you do everything for range. An M4 can hit much further, effective range in real steel is the range where the weapon has a good chance to kill the threat, which the m4 cant do past a few hundret feet because of its short barrel and light + small ammunition. But the max range for airsoft withotu going over 550 FPS is probably around 400.
Use a shorter Prometheus Barrel (between 360 and 509mm), build a Quasar Hop-Up (easy to do), and use concave Cylinderheads. It will all lead to much better accuracy.
you could improve the performance of this gun a little if you was willing to spend the money on using a 6.01 mm tight-bore they do shoot more accurate, but make sure it doesnt get anything in the barrel and clean it regularly because those get jammed easier but you do shoot more accurately with one of those in, but this looks alot like a platform i have been planning to make sometime in the next 3 years or so, gonna get a bolt 1st, then this
@FluffyBunny97s If i were you, I'd get a regular g&g, because the on blowback ones, some of the parts are priority, and are hard to find. Also, the blowback kinda holds you back, as in rof. I know your not going for that, but also with fps(i think??). Matrix, in general, is a bad company. Just stay away from them. You may have to pay more money, but it's worth it. FPS is nearly impossible to determine, as well as ROF. With anything that has to do with compression, get the same brand.
@FluffyBunny97s sorry ran out of space. Get the same brand with hop-up bucking, cylinder head, cylinder, piston head, and hop-up chamber. That's all I can remember right now. But yeah, keep the compression the same brand(as much as possibel), and stay away from matrix. I know this guy who ripped his hop-up bucking and the gun was shooting 400 fps prior to this, he decided to get the kwa bucking, and his compression went down the drain, and his fps was like 320.
Personally if you want performance, Don't use the pneumatic blow back Gear boxes... More moving parts, more vibrations. Not DMR characteristics. You want a solid gun. M130, no, thats standard outdoor AEG power. You want M150 and up. Using .30g bbs or heavier...
Be prepared to replace the GB, and you are going to need a mosfet, 9.6/10.8/11.1 battery, and beefier motor. DMRs aint cheap.

It's an Echo 1 M4 base; Internal upgrades: A reinforced metal gearbox shell, SRC high torque motor, A Guarder 140 spring A Prometheus hard piston (OR Angel Piston. I have both. Which one?), Prometheus polycarb piston head, Prometheus soft bucking (purple), Prometheus 650mm inner barrel. I would LOVE to get it shooting accurately like this gun.
Will my gun be able to take the 140 spring? What else do I need??
@shaotiger82 look at the vids to the right of this one. scroll down until you see Airsoft GI - 500 fps AEG Upgrade Necessities. that will tell you what you need but the more powerful the gun means your gonna want to keep the rate of fire down or else it will cause a lot of wear and tear. thats why most guns are 400 max
haha i built a 500 fps gun out of a KWA M4. S130 spring, Modify metal cylander head, Magnum motor and 11.1 lipo. Rest is stock kwa. It had insane rof too. It probably was half the price of this gun
Without hop up replacements, a tightbore, and a longer barrel no way it was as accurate as this one. I have heard that KWA internals are excellent though.
@bullmeatt To bad most of the big events and all the events in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana area won't let you use a gun shooting over 400 FPS without it being bolt action or permanent semi only.

However I can use it at OPP, I live only 2 hours away from fort drum and its a major event in NY. search operation pine plains if you dont know what that is. BTW Im from Canada so I dont live near any of those places. On top of that im going to be hosting one of Ontarios first "no fps limit" games. Bolt action and AEG only. Engagement distances are MUCH more distant though.
@fanofCOH the Difference in Response Time is marginal, but the battery will last longer. Its the same thing with Bearings vs. Metal Bushings. My Gearbox has 8mm Bearings, and not Cut off and ARL, and the Gears spin for a very long time, if i delubricate them, and spin them without anything in it. with an ARL, the Gears stop after 2-3 Rotations. With Grease, i still get much better results, about 10 seconds of spinning, if i turn on the Sector Gear with a Screwdriver
@fanofCOH Its not measurable in therms of ROF, but your battery will last longer. Even changing out CA Bearings to Kanzen Ceramic Bearings brings you 100 Rounds more to fire on a 600 mAh Battery, the ARL could do so much more
@andromedarr in my past use the arl is a key peice otherwise their would be no need. i deal with mostly high rof guns and due to the fact that we dont live in a perfect world, the piston will never end its shooting cycle perfectly forwards so the arl obviously keeps it from unwinding. belive me when i say a client of mine had a gun with a broken arl that simply diddnt engage and it took no time at all to destroy his innards.
@andromedarr now a semi auto rifle using a mosfet will be a different story as the piston now goes all the way forwards at the end of its cycle eliminating the need for arl
G&G gr16a3 and plan for upgrades: g&g m140 spring, g&g high torque motor, g&g hyper torque gears, g&g reinforced piston (2nd to last tooth already removed), g&g shims, g&g silicone oil, g&g gear grease.....obviously i only want g&g parts so do you think this would be good performance for around 420 fps w/.25? and btw these are just my minimal things and i dont plan on getting anything more? sound good?
rlly nice parts and upgrades, but if ur only reading a 480-490 with .2s im sure u have compression loss. buy an air-seal hop-up and a double o ring cylinder head, with a full metal spring guide, not ball bearings. im using an m130 irregular pitch with my g&g m4 and im hitting about 450-470 with .25s, ill post my vid soon as i can. im sure u can pass 600 with those upgrades just by making sure u dont lost any compression

I know your not going for that, but also with fps(i think??). Matrix, in general, is a bad company. Just stay away from them. You may have to pay more money, but it's worth it. FPS is nearly impossible to determine, as well as ROF. With anything that has to do with compression, get the same brand.

@FluffyBunny97s sorry ran out of space. Get the same brand with hop-up bucking, cylinder head, cylinder, piston head, and hop-up chamber. That's all I can remember right now. But yeah, keep the compression the same brand(as much as possibel), and stay away from matrix. I know this guy who ripped his hop-up bucking and the gun was shooting 400 fps prior to this, he decided to get the kwa bucking, and his compression went down the drain, and his fps was like 320.

Personally if you want performance, Don't use the pneumatic blow back Gear boxes... More moving parts, more vibrations. Not DMR characteristics. You want a solid gun. M130, no, thats standard outdoor AEG power. You want M150 and up. Using .30g bbs or heavier...
Be prepared to replace the GB, and you are going to need a mosfet, 9.6/10.8/11.1 battery, and beefier motor. DMRs aint cheap.

hey, sorry I know this vid is old but I could really use some help upgrading my DMR:
It's an Echo 1 M4 base; Internal upgrades: A reinforced metal gearbox shell, SRC high torque motor, A Guarder 140 spring A Prometheus hard piston (OR Angel Piston. I have both. Which one?), Prometheus polycarb piston head, Prometheus soft bucking (purple), Prometheus 650mm inner barrel. I would LOVE to get it shooting accurately like this gun.
Will my gun be able to take the 140 spring? What else do I need??

@shaotiger82 look at the vids to the right of this one. scroll down until you see Airsoft GI - 500 fps AEG Upgrade Necessities. that will tell you what you need but the more powerful the gun means your gonna want to keep the rate of fire down or else it will cause a lot of wear and tear. thats why most guns are 400 max

haha i built a 500 fps gun out of a KWA M4. S130 spring, Modify metal cylander head, Magnum motor and 11.1 lipo. Rest is stock kwa. It had insane rof too. It probably was half the price of this gun

Without hop up replacements, a tightbore, and a longer barrel no way it was as accurate as this one. I have heard that KWA internals are excellent though.

However I can use it at OPP, I live only 2 hours away from fort drum and its a major event in NY. search operation pine plains if you dont know what that is. BTW Im from Canada so I dont live near any of those places. On top of that im going to be hosting one of Ontarios first "no fps limit" games. Bolt action and AEG only. Engagement distances are MUCH more distant though.

I guess you are not firing this thing on auto anymore. So take the ARL out, its just extra Friction if you fire only semi and have an AB MOSFET

@fanofCOH the Difference in Response Time is marginal, but the battery will last longer. Its the same thing with Bearings vs. Metal Bushings. My Gearbox has 8mm Bearings, and not Cut off and ARL, and the Gears spin for a very long time, if i delubricate them, and spin them without anything in it. with an ARL, the Gears stop after 2-3 Rotations. With Grease, i still get much better results, about 10 seconds of spinning, if i turn on the Sector Gear with a Screwdriver

@fanofCOH Its not measurable in therms of ROF, but your battery will last longer. Even changing out CA Bearings to Kanzen Ceramic Bearings brings you 100 Rounds more to fire on a 600 mAh Battery, the ARL could do so much more

@andromedarr in my past use the arl is a key peice otherwise their would be no need. i deal with mostly high rof guns and due to the fact that we dont live in a perfect world, the piston will never end its shooting cycle perfectly forwards so the arl obviously keeps it from unwinding. belive me when i say a client of mine had a gun with a broken arl that simply diddnt engage and it took no time at all to destroy his innards.

G&G gr16a3 and plan for upgrades: g&g m140 spring, g&g high torque motor, g&g hyper torque gears, g&g reinforced piston (2nd to last tooth already removed), g&g shims, g&g silicone oil, g&g gear grease.....obviously i only want g&g parts so do you think this would be good performance for around 420 fps w/.25? and btw these are just my minimal things and i dont plan on getting anything more? sound good?

rlly nice parts and upgrades, but if ur only reading a 480-490 with .2s im sure u have compression loss. buy an air-seal hop-up and a double o ring cylinder head, with a full metal spring guide, not ball bearings. im using an m130 irregular pitch with my g&g m4 and im hitting about 450-470 with .25s, ill post my vid soon as i can. im sure u can pass 600 with those upgrades just by making sure u dont lost any compression

lol i made a gun with a 303mm barrel and an s130 spring shoot 470-480 fps. JG piston modify s130 spring modify bore up cylander src 3rd gen cylander head and air nozzle and madbull TB barrel it was a CQB length M4. im not sure how it happened but thats what the chronos read with .2s
