@LouisianaGatorGirl Why not? Maybe crop yields were going to be too high that year which threatened to drop prices. It would then make sense to destroy a certain percentage to keep prices high. This is basic supply and demand. Its the same strategy DeBeers used when they bought all the diamond mines and said they were rare... Or oil companies when lower production. So this could actually increase their income.

They merely say that they tolerate the people growing them in Afghanistan because the previous method of plowing down the fields created enemies for generations. Obama changed the policy of plowing down to a shift toward biological warfare (even unofficially). Alex Jones does not have very much credibility unless it is outside trailer parks. Hi, it isn't any more complicated than that. Afghanistan has limited potential as a gas/oil transit state given the tribal realities of that country. Mineral exploitation is difficult and expensive and anyway there is heavy competition from China and other neighbours of the Afghan. That leaves one thing - the poppy. But let's not be too focused on Afghan. Under Obama, the US is increasing its commitment to Colombia, or rather the cocaine.

There are strong communities here, though the ones with money are shallow and tend to stay indoors living in fear, and the poorest in live in ghettos ruled by gang warfare... again living in fear.. so it's true and false. @boots920 Like I said the Urban areas will be hit worst, it is an urban problem for the most part, they are in no way self reliant and totally dependent for the most part on the financial system.
It is the urban areas that are more gated, less so in Europe, I travel in Europe nearly every week, the feeling is very much one of helping one another and getting on with life regardless of the money system and the politicians. Indeed it is uniting more people on the ground than parting them.

@boots920 Regarding disabled, thats an interesting one in that comunities will be there for them if they are genuinely disabled, I say that as in the UK there are 8 million people claiming disability benefit and it is thought that 80% are fraudulent and working. This is a unique problem to the UK due to the way our social system works and the mentality here, it is not the same elsewhere in the EU, in the UK there will be issues with those people who are fraudulent regarding their disabilities.

There is no nutrients in the soil in the US they have been living on a diet of saline solution and fat for years. Which is why they are suffering the highest rate of obesity and malnutrition at the same time than anywhere in the western world. There is no comparative for obesity but they are 13th in the world in amongst 3rd world countries for malnutrition.

Campaigning is one thing, the minute they are sworn in, it then becomes a different ball game, they basically have no choice as confronted with the reality of the accounts of the USA they are shown that that there is no other way other than if they wish to be the ones to tell the American people the truth, which none opt :)

@boots920 The state of the USA economy has been well known in economic circles for many years, I knew about it 7 years ago and I was down the pecking order somewhat. But there was nothing any external factor could do other than look on and brace themselves, which many did. However in this country Blare and Brown have a lot to answer for re all this to not just the British public but Europe as they had knowledge.

What public funds are used for CIA funding? They bring in the drugs to U.S., for profit, so they don't have to take public funds and answer any questions. NO WAY would they destroy their funding by sabotaging their own crop.
