  • wish this was longer, goddamn

  • Bennink stole the show...those other dudes need to chill out and have some fun.

  • Man when he bounced that stick right into his hand...

  • I love

  • As the late great Derek Bailey noted, free-improv is as stylistic / idiomatic as rock'n'roll, complete with it's very own repertoire of expectations (procedure / protocol) which are all present here.

The only question - as ever - remains, is it actually entertaining? Now, close your eyes, is it still entertaining....?

At best free-improv always seems to want to be a soundtrack to something, in this case it's Han's theatrics. And why not?

  • I know Han Bennink's work and i admire a lot of things he's done, but i would slap him in the face for being such a dick and ruining this rare meeting of great musicians.

You can feel that good old Ribot gets annoyed after a while.

And that's not "humour", nor "improvisation" - that's clown routine, and i think he'd better do that when he plays with folks like Joëlle Léandre or Tristan Honsinger or Eugene Chadbourne.

  • hahaha

  • bad ass @1:01 bouncing that stick off the ground

  • the drummer is han bennink......the most good improv drummer that i love.....please go to find out more of his works....

  • Humour does belong in music, isn't this a good thing ?

  • ya no hay mas? :(

  • improv? really? had no idea - anyone know who that slapstick drummer is, dig his style - life is just one big improv
