In 2 tries on mainstream TV (Nat'l Geographic and Tru TV) NMT experts were unable to make thermite melt steel. A Florida engineer, Jonathan Cole, devised means of using thermite to cut steel girders, steel box columns, to evaporate wide-flanges, and cut off bolt heads. See my video:
It was clearing the entire mudbog field, somewhere between 1/8 and 1/4 mile on half capacity. Full capacity was 110psi I believe, but that was just testing on the first day.
