  • I think he farted at 0:36

    "I just added another virtual..."

    >Mac sux

  • Virtualization sucks, real men have real servers for every conceivable function plus redundancy. . For all the extra headaches and effort put into admining real servers its worth it. There is nothing like commanding a roaring data-center throbbing and surging with drives, lights and fans to let you know there is real power there. I move 100 Terabytes for breakfast. It's like running the USS Enterprise.

    PS: Fuck the environment :D

  • "clt alt del" "clt alt del" - thats what happens when you run a server on Windoz! LOL

  • and... wait! I just jizzed all over

  • You can use Virtualbox for that, it is just free, so you don`t need to pay it, like you need for Vmware. ;)

  • They should reshoot this ad with girls. One could be really hard-working (the production server). The other could have multiple personality disorder (the vm server). Maybe Angelina Jolie could play that girl. Or they could just reshoot the whole thing with animatronic puppets where they open the head of the vmware puppet and there's a whole bunch of little puppets inside and they're like aaaargh! leap out at you, clawing your eyes, you run around screaming *aaargh* *they're clawing my eyes!**

  • they are better at programming than writing commercials.

  • Hell. Yes.

  • Think IT pros: VMWare + number of IPv6 addresses...

    Uncanny.

  • With HA, VMotion, and VM snapshots - disaster recovery, hardware maintenance, and OS or software upgrades are much easier, faster, and more reliable than anything you could do with standalone hardware.

The real key is the stability of the VM kernel (ESX), which in my experience has been perfect. After having moved our company to VMWare for all production, test and development, I really could not be more satisfied.

  • Yeah, but what happens if the computer running the virtual machines crashes or dies?

  • Then you can make use of HA feature, where the Virtual Machines will be transfered to another server if the hosting server goes down.....VMware Rocks!!!!!!!

  • egg on the face :)

actually, the vmware hypervisor backs up periodically, and can be just copied to another machine with VMware, and just boot... simbil ;P
