I prefer the overall attitude of the music, Mindless Self Indulgence lyrics aren't very "deep", but the whole philosophy of the music just agrees with something inside me.
My favorite is The Beatles, Gorillaz, and then She & Him. And I lean more towards the lyrical content, but there very close to being equal. I can listen to 'For No One' b(by Sir Paul McCartney) without the music forever :)
I do agree that Paul was the better musician, but Rocky Raccoon is an awesome song by mccartney, but its not as thought provoking as anything written by Lennon.

musical content, although a really stupid lyric can easily kill a brilliant song.
Steely Dan's Aja is a perfect example.

Very good question!
My favorite band is the Beatles.
Paul was the better musician, but
Lennon's songs were more lyrically sophisticated than McCartney's.
so I guess my preferences may vary depending on the song.
today is Paul McCartney's birthday, by the way.

@thevintagebow yeah, Paul is a great songwriter, I mean he also writes
"Eleanor Rigby" wich is Very "Lennon style" :)
not to mention George Harrison who wrote "Something"
and Frank Sinatra called it "the greatest love song ever written",
He also comment that "Something" was his all-time favourite Lennon/McCartney song.
