One of the best bands EVER...I will never forget how Adrian Borland and his band rocked and enchanted the whole audience when they played in Vera in Groningen back in the 80s (May 21, 1987). Such a loss, his death in 1999....More info on brittleheaven site.
@evelskunny they will reissue this CD in 2012. you can buy it on the French amazon right now or in midheaven in US or in system records in the UK. Just google for them. The label that is reissuing it is called 1972.
Combien de fois j'ai été user mes bottes sur la piste avec ce titre... Je ne saurais le dire! Là encore, j'ai les jambes que s'agite de manière frénétique.
Music is passable but guy can't sing worth shit (zero projection like he's channeling the Mark E Smith via Ian Curtis) esp. when you compare him to Ian McCulloch's or Juliand Cope's of that ilk back then. Vastly overrated by fans of this band. No wonder they went nowhere. Seriously, this is 3rd div. stuff.
@BiffScooter1 It's all just opinions, but wow you are entirely off the mark on all accounts. Adrian Borland had one of the strongest voices out of any of the post-punk bands. He wipes the floor with Ian McCulloch and Julian Cope. 3rd division stuff my arse. The Sound were first rate all the way. Echo & The Bunnymen were vastly overrated if anything.
@houseofglass21 Put it this way: Back then I was pretty tapped in and had never heard of Adrian Borland (and I'm talking brutal bands like the Fall, etc., from that genre). Really, you put AB's stuff up vs. Heaven Up Here. OK, I'll be avoiding anything you recommend then.
Anyway, you gives a crap in 2011. Music should be about the "now." Go buy the Raveonettes and get back to me in another 30 years on the next Adrian Boring-land you discover. To quote Dieter, you have become tiresome.
@BiffScooter1 Unlike you I don't feel the need to disparage bands that play a similar style of music to a band I have a big hard on for just to feel secure in my fandom. I can appreciate both for what they do and see the merits of their art in equal light.
If music is about the "now" then why are your precious Raveonettes so busy pilfering the Jesus and Mary Chain back catalog? Because all bands are influenced by the past. If you were a musician worth a damn you would know that. Cheerio.
Adrian's music was always perfect balance. He knew exactly when to give a song some power and when to keep it simple. Too bad he couldn't make that balance in his own life.
If anyone wants to hear a modern post-punk band that doesn't sound like today's pop wannabes (Interpol, Editors, White Lies, etc.), take a listen to the video response I put up. By the way, I love The Sound. "Winning" is one of my favorite songs.
if you want to buy the albums you can find in both amazon, ebay and also in a website called renascent. renascent is a record label who's responsible for re-issuing classic 80's music like the sound.. in there you can buy the albums.

I heard they paid huge for the licensing on that cover, I think there was some punk politics going on, good for them.
