oh man the season had got to the point when mcrae&grist were pushing to keep n touch with makinen..he retired at the end of the rally..funny how he hit that tree..almost at walking pace..the surface when it rained on that event was horrible.i used to follow the wrc like an anorak during this period...thanx for posting this.

I think he's probably refering to some kind of radiator sealing gum they carry in case of this kind of problem, perhaps its sometimes refered to by the teams/ drivers as chewing gum?

That cranking remains of how the Subaru Rally cars sounds like nowadays . If they stall or you turn them off the risk is very big that they will fail to start or take very long time to restart.
