  • what other equipment/programs are you using?

  • fucking cool, man!!

  • Dude, swap the stock tubes for some JJECC803s OR GTs....what a quantum difference and warmth and headroom.

  • @sonicliberation any chance of a "how-to" guide to do that??? or better yet, maybe even a quick video??? :) I've heard that the tubes can be improved on, though I have been happy with the stock tubes (best at about 25% though)

  • can you record external audio in this thing?

  • hi, can i control one or two synths in a chain seperately via midi while having the drums off this thing running? great box by the look of it anyway if i can't but would be a big bonus. thanks for the vid, love the drums especially

  • @ReflexiveBeef as long as you can assign those synths to specific midi channels then yes. this effective uses 6 midi channels accross its 6 parts (I assume you mean controlling this from an external sequencer, alsong with other gear in a midi-thru chain). remember there are 16 midi channels available per port.

  • best demo I've seen. Just started looking into step sequencers, myself. How do you feel the emx compares to something like the europa, or nemo in that department? l know there are fewer tracks ... Also, is that a 'green' MMT 8 to the left of the Korg???

  • @xencage not really looked at the other step sequencers you mentioned I'm afraid, so I cant really comment on the comparison (sorry buddy). & yes, its a green MMT8 ;)

  • Great vid. Electribes have so much punch, it really does make you go "wow". Wish I'd bought one now :(

As andy92811 said, nice programming :)

  • That sounds great, nice programming.

  • Dude, nice vid..... i will get my own in a few days *-*

  • ruff jungle bizzness! :)

  • hopefully getting this soon :D for my birthday. fingers crossed

  • @ryo563388 GOOD birthday present... just ordered a waldorf blofeld for myself for christmas as it goes (I love getting synths as gifts!)

  • I'm a guitarist who dabbles in electronic music, but I hafta say, this is a really nice piece of work!!

  • check my vid I uploaded a few years ago - its more breaky but ye I agree with you on most of the vids not really pushing is capability

  • great demo. question--i read that the main data knob gets loose with use. have you run into this problem? also, are the knobs metal or plastic?

  • @ibnz93 knobs are plastic, & to a certain degree most pots get loose after a while, this seems well built tho, I have gigged with it & its been fine.

  • Great vid! Can I upload my own samples in this machine?

  • @maartenvandasler I'm afriad not, its a rompler/VA synth (tho it does do other types of synthesis aswel, since it runs a striped down version of korgs MMT tech.

  • @maartenvandasler you can make your own samples in its brother the ems-1 which is the same price.

  • I'm getting one next week!!! The red colored version is the sampler, and this one the emx 1 is for purcussion and/or synths! don't know what the red versions name is but it would go good daisy chained with the emx 1!!! I have the roland XA keyboard which can also be linked to the emx 1 and the emx 1 effects then effect your XA sounds how cool is that!!! well worth only 325$ on Ebay!!!

  • @ProToolPat red is the esx-1 and the emx-1 is a synth and drum machine, whereas the esx-1 is a sampler and drum machine.

  • so this thing is a sampler? does it come with those drum sounds on it or do you have to put them on there somehow i dont understand how breakcore artists get the drum samples i know they dont use some regular clunky drum machine

  • @getchoneckbrokeyo56 its not a sampler at all. it has a rom percussion sounds, & a few S&S sounds for the synth (tho that also runs on different synthesis methods depending on how you program it)

  • Oh yes ! What a machine man...Bring it on !

  • Dude, the new emx sd - is it worth 250$+?? What do you think, i'm going to buy one! What do you think pls help! sorry i can't send you a pm dunno whyt??

  • awesome dude! love your studio set up too thats gotta be a few grands worth

  • @foulmouthedcunt thanks buddy. I'm going to be putting up a video soon with like a mini tour of the studio itself. so keep an eye on my website for that (stoltz co uk)

  • Hi Thanks for posting your videos to me. Good job! I love the EMX1 for the same reasons!! Keep up the ART BASHING!

  • proper EMX use!

I was so annoyed from all the boring 4-4 beats it seems a lot of other people are making.

    well done, cheers!

  • i actually got my ESX from my GF for christmas and i must say, i rather like being able to import my own sounds instead of using presets

  • Skills.

  • Nice Job!

  • Love the sound at 3:36 - so much like a Duduk I've been trying to emulate for a while ... is this a MX1 preset ? ... just thought I'd ask before Santa brings me my own! Great vid BTW.

  • the EMX dosent actually do presets, it presents a limited but effective slew of peramiters which you just grab & sculpt on the fly. its UBER simple, but you can make alot of FAST effective powerfull sounds. very well thought out.

this is a PERFECT christmas present! make sure you dont touch touch it till xmas day, coz it will be a special day for you then! LOVE this machine, its so simple & FUN! (this from a guy that gets his kicks programming a prophecy from scratch without software ;)

  • @rlouve

You can copy synth 'parts' from one pattern to another, so i guess those would count as presets.

  • are thouse variously pitched junglistic snare breaks from emx too? (=

  • its all EMX my man, what you hear is what you see ;)

  • Dude ummmm... Should i get the mircokorg or emx-1?

  • that question can only be answered in the context of how you wanna use it. the micor is litrually a mini instrument, where as the EMX is a little box of creative tricks. you can program quite deep on the micro, although it has a difficult interface thats hard to master, where as the simplicity or the EMX keeps it out of real deep programing reach, but its imediacy is PERFECT generating & inspiring ideas FAST

    depends what you wanna do

  • (I myself have this, plus a prophecy, & a Z1, so I'm doing ok for korg subtractive synthesis, plus others heh)

  • I heard Mondo Grosso do some great cuts with Boa Kwon...and I just HAD to buy these. Just YouTube for Mondo Grosso and you will see what I am talking about.

  • Hi. Based on your demo and the work done by Denkitribe, I purchased an EMX-1 and KAOSS pad....and just picked up an ES-1 Mk II and ER-1 on eBay. These tools, coupled with my VoiceLive 2, Electro-Harmonix Voice Box, and Korg/Behringer controllers should help me make some sweet J-Pop/J-Rock tunes and vocals.. Can't wait to get everything hooked up and coupled to my AT-2020 microphones! Again, thanks for your demo!

  • thats cool man, quite a compliment in itself :) pay my website a lookin - stoltz co uk

you have some funky box's collaited there! make sure you dive into the deep end & take em out live, always the fun times :)

  • Hello Simon, hope you are well.

I know you are busy and appreciate your time. Could you help? There's a new OS update, v1.02. Not got my EMX-1 yet so no tech support. The info on the update says, "The EMX-1 uses SmartMedia to receive the O.S. Data. For this reason, you must have a SmartMedia reader/writer attached to your computer to complete this upgrade. Do you know if the update file runs automatically or do I copy it to the SM card?

Thank you again for your time. Sincerely, Gareth

  • ive yet to update it myself, tho i imagine you copy it to the card, then use that card in the EMX1. they'll be some litriture in the manual or the ned on how to actually initiate the OS update from the machine

  • Thanx again. That's just it... I checked through all the documentation and manuals and forums before messaging you and still can't find anything. Normally there is a little read me file but there's nothing in the update file... Update file presents itself as an Automator file on the Mac... It's all too weird... Anyway's I'll have to wait now till I get home in 2 weeks before I can get the numbers so as to get in touch with tech help team. You've been great. Thanx again. Keep on keeping on.

  • Well done on showing that this little Korg box has some balls. That piece was very impressive. Loved every moment of it.

  • cool, are the the drum sounds all preset or can you tweak them?

  • At first I was skeptical...than the beat kicks in and BLOWS YOUR F*ckin' ears off!!!

    haha Fantastic job 5 stars!!

  • can it be sync to ableton

  • yes, using midi clock

  • hey how do you save your patterns ? do you need smart media ?

    good vid

  • nope. every pattern location is rewrittable with user patterns. it can all be backed up to SM card (& I expect midi sysex also)

    cool little machine :)

  • hello man, nice effects !! it's not my style with my electribe but it always makes learning to see other creations, thanks, keep it up !!

  • thats cool man,you are doing something different on that EMX.always good to see that,i got rid of mine a while ago,i couldnt get anywhere with it,so i had to get rid of it,but its a very powerfull box,and the MMT synthesis engine on it really is powerfull.

  • holy shit man, this is legendary, love the way you're really making use of the drum channels :D. subscribed

  • Awesome!

  • super cool

  • Sweet!

I wish there was a beginners video tutorial on youtube, i cant find one anywhere on the web!

  • Hell yes.

  • sufficiently grouchy!
