Her saying yes to God and then concieving God in her womb and watched him grow and die a painful death on the cross. Jesus is the only person to be without sin. That is very misleading for the pope to say that she was. Many Catholics put Mary up on a pedistal when she doesnt belong there.

When people tried to give Mary special honor and pre-eminence because she was His mother, Jesus corrected them.

Because Jesus Christ said:

"Amen I say to you, there hath not risen among them that are born of women a greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is the lesser in the kingdom of Heaven is greater than he."

This means that [the soul or spirit of] John the Baptist had been in the "heaven" before was born in earth.

i say in the context of in this earth. The Holy Trinity chose--in this earth--Maria as His Bridge, because Maria is the greater most perfect blessed woman to be His Bridge.

The chosen Bridge of God must be "equal" in the sense [content] of sanctity and holy, to be [fit] unite with HIM.
