    This!

  • Garage Band is counter intuitive. Surely clicking your mouse on a note should play it on a blank sheet. Why did you start with a pre existing recording. I hate Macs - the software is soooooooooooooooooo crap!

  • Can i Put my partiture in muse score?

  • command does not work, anybody know why? No note shows up,frustrated.

  • @aquacameo me too! No note :@ HELp please!!

  • This is seriously the BEST help video I have EVER found EVER. Thank you SO much you just saved my music assessment!!!!

  • command doesn't work. :(

  • Helpful!

  • he sounds like soony moore (Skrillex)

  • i have tried the command key and put notes in the score and it does not work typing it in. Is yours garage band 11' because my screen does not seem the same as yours either.

  • Thank you so much. Never knew how to!!!

  • how do you write the music without looping?

  • what about key signature?

  • what about key signature

  • OMG! Thank you so much! we had to make sheet music for jazz band and Finalle notepad was stuck in a weird loop and wouldnt install. this is perfect! You're a LIFESAVER!

  • Too cool! (: I wish I could figure out how to edit notes better though. It looks like it's really easy to make 4 1/8 notes, but once I edit those notes it doesn't change or seem to listen to me. ;__; It looks like two or three of the notes are linking up, but this last one won't. X3

  • Thanks man!

  • A superb video I just wish you had it in focus as it really hurts your eyes while trying to figure out what you clicked on and where your cursor is.

But still a great informative video.

Please tell me you did it again and it is in focus.

  • Thank you so much. A question: I can't seem to find a trumpet for a song I wrote. Is it possible to find one?

  • You know......

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH, our school could no longer give out sibelius for students to use..... you saved my music course for me... THANK YOU

  • This is suck a poopr quality vidoe, it should be called garbageband, because macs are garbage.

  • ITS NOT WORKING! :(

    i can't put in any notes!!! x(

  • This actually helped me SO MUCH. Thanks for putting this video up!! 8DD

But I have a question. Im trying to write an ensemble piece, and it was going great... Until I realized I need to switch time signatures mid-way through the song, from 4/4 to 3/4. And I can't figure out how to do that without changing the ENTIRE PIECE to 3/4. Which is not what I want.

You wouldn't happen to know how to do this, would you? (Same thing with the tempo -- is it possible to change it that as the music goes on?)

  • this helped me so much! thanks! another thing, i figured this out on my own, but just to point out to others who may not realize it, you can make the section longer so it doesn't loop as soon by clicking and dragging the bottom right corner of the section.

  • thanks man. I write a lot of music and had a good program on a PC, but recently switched to a Mac and was sad I lost my program but this should do.

  • @skyfox315 pfft...doubt it.. just about now you are realizing how much macs suck and hating yourself for falling prey to the dildo marketing crap they have.

  • @MrDarcyzPP

    Sibelius.

  • Nice! And it helps a lot but the quality looks like someone has throw up a video and in the puddle it's playing due to a trick of the light

  • Dear Kingshoops273,

Wonderful directions! I was impressed at how clear cut they were; job well done. One question for you. I have a friend who has a new mac and wanted to explore and use this program more, but wanted to specifically be able to write music in it. Watching this has helped me to be able to help him, but would it be possible for you to send this in step-by-step word format at all to my YouTube e-mail account? To have the step-by-step directions to read while watching would help.

  • I am having a lot of trouble with this. I don't think Garageband is intended to be used to compose music.

  • this video is completely useless because you can't see the screen

  • hey no problem! and unfortunately, not that I know of...

  • Thanks for this tutorial, thanks a million haha - Is there any way to add staccato to notes??

  • another mind raper.......but its actualy better than fukin "expertvillage"

  • Thanx so much :D

  • Too bluryy

  • so helpful thanx :)

  • How do you pull up the thing that shows the music as it would appear as sheet music? I was shown once and can't figure it out again to save my life.

    =/

  • I want a mac!!!

  • you would

  • @pixiehousewife Dude there great!

  • I can't get it to work either. This guy starts from pre-written music, but I want to start from scratch...when I do I can't put down a single note! Ugh.

  • command key isnt working it not letting me put a note on is the command key the weird pattern thing next to alt??

  • This video helped soooo much... But I have one question. I can't seem to figure out how to write an eight note triplet. No matter what I try, GarageBand just messes up the rhythm. What do I do? (I noticed on the side, under 'Align to' it gives a list of options, a bunch of which are 1/4 triplet, 1/8 triplet, etc... But they aren't helping.)

  • hmm. I'm afraid either you can't, or there's a solution somewhere online.

  • see my Video Quality

  • @WarriorSkies Hey, I know you have posted this 2 years ago and I don't know if you have ever found the solution but the trick that I use is to expand the timeline until you see the 16th notations (or where 8 boxes represents 1 quarter note) and go 3+3+2. Its the closest I can get to sound just like a triplet. If you want to hear what it sounds like check out my video "trapeze" at the "2:13" mark.

  • Hey buddy, I could really use some help:

I'm looking to learn a simple audio editing program just to learn some composing basics. Garageband seemed like the perfect choice for me. Alas, I was horrified when I found out the damn thing won't let me scrub back and forth on my track. In other words, I can only hear my audio when I press 'Play'. Is there an option or a plug-in you used to allow you to scrub sound?

  • Hmm, I know what you mean and I'm not sure. Try searching for it on google or on the downloads page of the apple website. I'm sure you'll find something.

  • Thank you dude i love you. not like that. i love you because i can now actually do things with garage band. i tried and tried but didnt know how to make sheet music. ITS THAT STUPID COMMAND KEY I DIDNT KNOW ABOUT. you made things much easier for me. quick question is it possible to print sheet music? once again thank you

  • Haha no problem! I'm really happy I could help.

ABSOLUTELY ITS POSSIBLE TO PRINT! haha it took me a while to figure out. Simply select the instrument of the sheet music you want to print and click "file" and then click "print"

  • Wow, I've had this program on my Mac but have always been overwhelmed. This actually makes sense. :) Thanks for the vid!

  • I am learning how to use this programm for the first time. This is great advice. Thank you!

  • no problem, glad to help!

  • good song you wrote

  • thanks a lot, i appreciate it

  • no problem! its awesome to hear ppl are putting what i do to use

  • thanks so much man, i just wrote my own techno song
