How much did this machine cost to build?

It cost about £600 for the materials & electronic components etc. The rest is designing, making all the parts. Fitting, assembly & set up also takes a lot of time.

can you describe your cutter. is it commercially available or self made? J

It is all self made the actual cutting tool is a single point cutter ground to the gear tooth shape.
