  • To put it in one sentense: The Remake sucked.

  • I agree that CGI effects are OVERUSED and it is starting to lose its illusion. I hear that the new nightmare remake isnt very good either because people just cant get past Robert England not playing Freddy. While I am sure the new guy does the job well, Freddy isnt like Jason, replaceable from film to film. Freddy is a strong character. (not oscar material but you get the idea)

  • This movie is terrible. Jason behaves JUST LIKE PD remake of the Texas Chainsaw massacre. They move alike, they almost look alike, they kill alike, they have lairs alike. They dissed the entire first movie by making it in to a 30 second montage. I hated all the characters and as you said no redeeming qualities at all. I just hope they do NOT make another. Let my favorite series just stay as it is or sell Jason back to Paramount, at least I liked their movies

  • This was barely a remake, it was more like the 12th installment then an actual remake.

  • It was better than parts 5,7-10

  • your gf wife is gorgeous your a lucky guy.

  • Why thank you very much. You totally made her day, haha!

  • there is soooooo much boobs in this movie!it is fuking awesome!!!!!!!!

  • 1st group of kid were waaay better!!!quick shots suck to..i agree with ya!music sucked except sister christian song lol and beer bong was dumb!fake boobs suck! but i do like the movie...i give it a 7 outa 10!

  • Oh and Ciscokid, he's not capturing his victims. It was just this one girl, that reminded him of his mother (her boyfriend said she looked like her in the locket, at the beginning of the film). I think it was a nod from part 2 (I think - was it part 3?) where the girl talks like Jason's mom, so that he wont harm her. But, yes the way he found his mask was silly, as most of the characters. We cant be scared when we couldn't care any less about the characters. Thats why I like Wes Craven movies.

  • Yeah, it's a nod to Part 2 when Ginny puts on his mother's sweater.

We definitely had the same opinion of the flick. It wasn't anything great, but it wasn't all that bad. Thanks for the comments!

  • Just saw the movie. I have to agree with u RyHo, that they did a good work. There are many people who think that the film sucked. But if the film makers had done a movie with elements we've seen before, it would be even worse. The series needed a new approach ( a serious one, not sending Jason to space). I like the new Jason, he's scary, he's enormous and he's a hunter. A protector of the lake (in his mind) from the outsiders who let him drown and killed his mom. Needed better kills though.

  • This remake sucked. I was sadly dissapointed within the first 15min. When the girl was hanging in the sleeping, he just let her hang?? Fuck that. I was expecting him to beat her off the tree. The kills were weak. The fact jason tortured his victims and captured them was horrible. Lets put rap music and escalades and rich kids in this movie. The beginning with jasons mom was a slap in the originals face. Im a die hard fan and this movie SUCKED!!!!!!!

  • Another thing, how jason found the mask was stupid. On the attic floor? Come on. That asian kid playing hockey in the garage wouldve been a better way of jason getting his mask. It sucked, it sucked, it sucked and o yeah IT SUCKED!!!!!!

  • this movie sucked. I thought I was watching the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

  • nice girl you got there ;)

  • love this film, its the best remake yet

i love the new jason, i love the fact that he is an hunter

  • I'm waiting for the Blu-ray. I really enjoyed this video series. The girlfriend shit here gave me douche chills but more power to you. I get a great nostalgic kick out of these films too. Got turned onto them when I was 12 and taped Jason Lives off First Choice/Superchannel. Canadian "pay TV' back then, remember it? Part VI is definitely the high point, IMHO, zombie Jason being much scarier to me than a mortal version.

  • I do indeed remember it, and I'm not sure what "douche chills" are, but I apologize!

  • I'm a hardcore fan of the first 4. I actually really liked the new one (it was allot scarier), but I still prefer the originals (They have that 80's feel to them).

I actually thought the deaths in these were better, because the "trapper" thing made the deaths more effective and scarier.

This one actually had my favorite F13 kill, THE BOAT SCENE! What'd u think of that one?

  • Well let's see.

    1) Arrow in the head. Check.

    2) Machete in the head. Check.

    3) Water-skiing boobies! Double-check!

I think it was pretty sweet, in my book.

  • lol avgn rip off. nice review. i watched all the ones u did for friday the 13th. subscribed!

  • Thank ya very much!

  • Ryho

I've saw the movie, and I must say it was just okay, Maybe when in it comes out on Blu-Ray my opinion will change. So for now, it was okay.

Loved the nudity though,T&A for all!! :-)

  • If nothing else, enjoy it for the T&A!

  • I liked it a lot more than i was expecting to. Unlike the Halloween remake, i don't feel it utterly destroyed the spirit of the series. That said, it was pretty unnecessary. I thought the brightest spot was the actor playing Jason and then there is one HUGE part of the plot that i couldn't accept at all.

  • Yeah, I went in expecting some kind of bullshit, so I just all that go and enjoyed what I could.

  • that movie was fucking horrible. another franchise remake FAIL

  • your beginning music scared me

  • Then I've done it once again!

  • Nice review... you should come watch ours. I think we agreed with you more than any other Youtube reviewer I've seen. The nerdy kid that Jason first killed should have been the main character, in my opinion.

  • I'll check it out right now.

  • i cant stress enough that this is a god awful remake or reinvision or reimagining, or rehatching or whatever the fuck bay and the boys decided to call this piece of shit....

  • I can understand where you're coming from. You certainly aren't alone. At first I thought reception of this was 50/50, now I'm starting to see a lean on the side of hating the flick.

I can understand everyone's gripes, but on my first viewing, I just have to say I somehow enjoyed it. Not saying its amazing, but I liked it enough.

Either way, thanks for the comments.

  • my list of reasons for hating this movie is waay longer than my list of reasons for liking it. first/biggest mistake...MTV & TCM people, they made jason torture people and chain people up in his lair, yes his lair...omg. woulld it have been that hard to get manfredinis score? and some ch ch's, and they shoulda got savini, he did lost boys sequeal, im sure he woulda did this, but no, they dont care. i would love to know who the tarrget audiance was, not fans of the originals thats for damn sure

  • There target audience with any of these is the crowd of kids, unfortunately. I saw a lot of kids coming out of this flick. I even heard one girl, probably 14 or so, explaining to her friends how this was an EXACT remake of the original. I near wanted to shake her!

  • RyHo, I am disappointed with you, sir. I found the movie totally irredeemable trash. But you're still my bro.

  • Haha, I had to speak the truth! Trust me, Friday is my fave horror franchise, and I went in there with the lowest expectations possible and I managed to be entertained.

Maybe my horror tastebuds are off...

  • lol yeah i liked the first group more too, the second group were so annoying jason was more like the hero

  • Big time.

  • i LOVED the new Friday the 13th! it was amazing. im not sure if i like it the best but it had the best effects and camera shots and just apperance, but part 3 and 4 are just classics

  • It's definitely not the best, but it did the trick. I enjoyed it, so that's all that matters. It didn't need to top the old films, just not suck, haha.

    Thanks for the comments!

  • Cool man. I'm glad I'm not the only one who liked it. It's not the best movie in the world...not by a longshot. But I just thought it was a fun time at the movies.

  • Exactly, which is all it had to be. A popcorn, slasher flick. I'm glad there are at least a few people out there that liked it, haha.

  • Also, you talked about the flashy camera angles. That was because Michael Bay produced it lol...

  • Haha, and Nispel directed. The man sure can make a music video!

  • anyone know where to buy the new Friday The 13th soundtrack for new 2009 version or download it

  • SPOILER!!!!

what was the 1 CGI kill?

  • Well, when I think back, I think I can pick out a few, but the one I'm talking about is the axe.

  • it was bad ass..fuckin loved it..never a boreing part funny as fuck good killings

  • Good to see there's lots of other people that liked it because I've seen a lot of bad reviews.

  • i made the vido response check it out when you have time man...

    dont fuck with jason's weed...

  • Did you send the video response? It's not coming up in my folder. I'll check again, though.

  • where can i get the theme

  • You can hear a clip on the website. I'm not sure if it's on sale on iTunes yet or not.

  • ok thanks yeah cuz i look on itunes and it wasnt there yet

  • i really like it a think it was a good start to starting a new series because they could do a lot better whit a part 2 and have a lot better kills don't get me worng they was some really good kills in this one it was good to see the man behide the mask back we sure know they will be a part 2 how it ended it made 19 million and 50 000 its open day

  • Oh, they were probably in pre-production for this last week, haha.

  • Go watch it for a 2nd time, its so much better!!!!!

  • Gonna have to do that soon!

  • For me I thought it was the best movie i've ever seen. Each death got cooler and cooler but if I had to pick it would be the axe kill.

  • The movie doesn't play in my town so I'll have to wait to the DVD. I don't mind though.

Did you get the teaser for Transformers 2 in front of the film? I think I read that you liked the first one in one of your blogs? As much as one disses Michael Bay and his desire to remake every horror movie ever, the dude sure knows how to create cool "money shots". Trailer needed more Optimus Prime though.

  • Haha, the movie actually started 10 minutes early, and I was out getting popcorn when TF2 came up! I got back in time for Watchmen. I've seen the teaser that was on the Super Bowl, though. Yeah, the trailer definitely lacks Prime, but I think it's because they want to focus on the bad guys for the "revenge".

    Any idea on the synopsis?

  • I think they've decided to keep the story most under wraps. Judging from the trailers the sequel looks bigger and darker though, which is great.

But if they kill of Prime... there's going to be hell to pay ;)

  • Haha, so true. The title makes me think they'll incorporate The Fallen, a character from TF lore. We'll see though. I hear Soundwave is in this, so that'll be exciting. He better have that bitchin' voice!

  • The full trailer's up at Yahoo Movies now if you want to see it. The Fallen is in the film and apparently female autobot Arcee as well haha. But it's promising that the trailers show so much robots and so little humans hehe.

  • Yeah, Arcee was intended in the original, but was cut, so it's good she made this cut. Is The Fallen the huge bot that Prime jumps on?

  • I think Fallen is the bot at 1:39 attacking the soldiers in the desert.

  • .(I agree with you on some possible missing scenes, and I did prefer the first group of kids more as well.) Check out my vid on this when you have a chance. Also got a dvd review of the re-releases up and a "Jimbo" parody video on the way. Working on some blogtv plans too. Take care man!

  • I'll be checking it out momentarily, sir. Also, can't wait to see what you have in store on BlogTV.

  • Hey dude, just watched you thoughtss/review on the remake. I am finding that just most that i have watched so far have said the same comments about the music selections in this one. I love the fact that they used mostly practical effects in this one. I thought the look of Jason was really good. I am going to have to defintiely get the dvd and sit down with it for a few viewings and then let it totally sink in for a real review.

  • Same here. I'll definitely need to watch it a few more times to really know my feelings on it.

  • Friday The 13th Part 4 aka Final Chapter great movie in the series but i cant believe in the beginning of the credits or end credits does not even mention the guy who played jason i may be wrong but i dont see the name i know its Ted White who did play Jason i found out by watching part 7 cause end of there credits it says the guys who played jason 1-7 cause of part 7 intro they had show clips of previous films 2 3 4 6

  • He's not mentioned because he had a falling out with Joseph Zito (director) over how the kids were treated in the making of the film. He didn't associate himself with the character for years until he saw the fans wanted to know more about the man who played Jason in The Final Chapter.

  • i agree with alot of you i was just happy to see jason kick some ass at crystal lake again not space or fighting freddy it felt like i was 10 11 years old again im 29 today i was born the same year friday the 13th came out 1980 i think what they forgot is the infamous violin music that is also a character itself bottom line jason is a horror icon they wont kill him freddy michael myers all of them cant wait to see h2 in august im serious horror fan

  • I'm not a fan of Zombie's version of Halloween, but I'll probably see H2 just because it's horror in theatre, haha. I rather Carpenter's more atmospheric version over Zombie's gritty, real version.

But yeah, I liked seeing Jason again. I think that's the major appeal for seeing the film. It's just Jason killing teenagers at camp.

  • i liked it it sure was dif. tho...

  • Big time different. I think I liked it because I went in thinking that I'd hate it, haha. Low expectations my friend!

  • Yeah, you gotta love those CW era actors, eh? Ha ha. On another note, It's good to see you and your gf having fun RyHo. I haven't seen the film yet, so I'm trying to avoid reading many comments below because there ARE people who don't mind giving away spoilers without any kind of warning. Oh, and thanks for not doing that for those who have not seen it yet. I really can't stand it when people give away endings. Thanks for the review, pal. Have a good one.

  • Yeah, I tried my best not to spoil the movie for anyone when I was reviewing. I hope I was successful.

The CW actor thing has been running rampant since Scream, so I doubt it's going to stop.

    Thanks for the kind words!

  • did you buy the deluxe editions from 1,2,and 3? Also, I was thinking of ordering the Crystal Lake Memories book. Do you have that one?

  • I have Crystal Lake Memories, but I haven't had a chance to bring it up since I moved. I'm going to get it this weekend, hopefully.

I didn't buy the deluxe editions, but I'm definitely going to get Friday the 13th on Blu-ray at some point.

  • I know these films are not based upon academy awarding winning character development, but I didn't like the majority of the characters. Back in the earlier Friday the 13ths it was more about the girl or guy next door type of image something the average person could relate to. On a postive note the film was interesting and fun as long one doesn't expect to much from it.

  • Precisely.

  • Well it was better than the Halloween remake, but still I didn't think it was nothing too great. Jason seemed more like Leatherface than the Jason we know him as. Like chaining the girl up in the secret dungeon because she resembles his mother that just seemed out of character for him. I totally agree with you about the main cast. I felt a lot of the characters were the "pretty people" with little personality, shallow, selfish, and just down right fuckin annoying...lol

  • Yeah, it seems like whoever makes these films doesn't realize that viewers get more attached when they like the characters.

I can see what you're saying about Jason. I'm not sure what was up with the underground caverns, ahah. I thought that was pretty stupid.

  • The whole trying to be funny part made this movie sux for me but owell atleast i got to see jason ;D good vid

  • Thanks. Yeah, I liked Jason's look in it, so that's a plus.
