  • Aw shit, I'm 8 again. When I was a kid, everyone had a BMX bike, but this is the flick that got me into actual BMX in the 80's. I'm 32 and I just started riding again after a decade off a bike. Having fun again!

  • that is still one of the best movies on the planet. I couldn't watch it enough. I had to go outside and ride every time I watched it. great video.

  • Awesome movie!

  • i was 13 when it came out. I seen Rad more then any movie on the planet. Got it still on VHS with dirt bike kid as a preview.... Great music too!!! I know movie word for word....GT's were best and Mongoose was the other bas ass bike...

  • well when i seen this movie for the first time i could watch it over and over. i had a GT and i thought i was Crew Jones i even signed my name in class as crew jones and the teacher gave it back to me telling me to use my real name. i must say watching this movie as a kid i tried all tricks jumping off and over things not carring if i got hurt i wanted to be the best

  • after this movie when i was a kid, after riding my skylar, i used to eat cornflakes with gloves lol and got the black allstars to ride xD

    OH BTW!!!

MY LUCKY NUMBER WAS AND ACTUALLY IS 33 XD!

  • Cry is riding a mongoose californian. As a kid I got that bike and some flight pads to try to be like him. Lori laughlin is soooooo HOT! Later dudes.

  • Wish I would'v been 14-18 in the 80s, seemed to be good times, people made stuff cause the loved it. now its all about money and fame. FYI im 18 atm.

  • Do they still make Kix cereal?

  • Sad thing is BMX is almost dead here now I used to race from 87 till mid 90s This movie really puts a fire in you to ride again cept now its mountain bikes

  • This movie and thrashin we use to watch all the time when i was young, this brings back so many memories

  • @Henber77 the same as me, from about 5yrs old onwards, even my older sister had to sit through each one over 100 times, we only used to have 1 vcr back in the good old 80's, get home at 12.30pm watch parts of rad/thrashing , then go round the neighborhood trying to recreate the shit, still got numerous scars from the 1/4 pipe my old man built me, 2 of the best movies ever made

  • the reason i got into riding... cru is someone i could definitely relate to

  • This movie defines my childhood. No ipods, no cell phones, no Direct TV, no internet. Just the open air and my Diamondback. Good times, indeed.

  • "Bart, the man." wtf?

  • Poetry in Motion

  • One of the best quoates " A 360! Hulk Hogan eat your heart out!!!!"

  • @jarrodbray Backflip dude.

  • I been ridin for 18 years and this movie got me started! HELL YEAH!!

  • Love the 360 out of the pool. Great movie!

  • never gets old

  • the greatest bmx movie ever...

  • the intro into the movie was so killer.. "rad" & "thrashing" were the 2 best bmx and skateboarding movies ever

  • great movie, this movie still gets me stoked!!!

  • man ive seen tah movie

and think its the first real bmx movie ever

i ride bmx so its really great to see how they rode at 1986

    man that bikes

  • this is the movie that got me racing bmx

  • The Best part of my childhood.

  • the best!

  • w w w . billallenrad . c o m

  • one word... inspiring

  • Hey TraumPolizei!

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. The Rad soundtrack is just that... Rad. For the time of its release... Rad is and always will be the ultimate bmx feature film.

    Whoa... knarly!

  • Only true BMX riders from the 80's ate KIX cereal

  • Best movie ever.

  • Right up there with Karate kid.

  • American movies had some lame music in the 80s, despite there being great sounds being made back then. But I spose it all adds to the wholelsome 'All-American' feel, which the Bmx of that time certainly had to it. I miss that version of Bmx personally, and it seems pretty colourless and less fun now; too 'grunge'/street whatever - the corny old school, almost corporate image was amazing.

I don't this RAD the movie is out out DVD? Correct me if wrong.

  • Both songs in this video are by a Australian singer/song writer John Farnham

  • I was cru jones back in my time, but I did it on a robinson. love it!

  • That "dance" sequence at around 2:30 was lame for even back then. I still remember cringing when it came on at the theater. But otherwise, it was a fun, but predictable, movie. I still remember that T-shirt scene when that kid comes in with a shirt that says Cru is Rad on it, and then they start making T-shirts for Cru. hahaha, lame.

  • Thanks for posting this, boy time sure flies.

  • i would kill for one of those t-shirts at 3:57

  • who knew Rebecca from Full House had such skills...hahah......seriously...this movie is so awesome...a feel good classic. with some seriously awful music...hahaa..which made it all the better...still got this on VHS somewhere myself...that last race is so badass..he's all doing little tricks the whole time...hahaha...greatness

  • John Farnham isn't all that bad! for 1986... This movie still gives me goosebumps.

  • RAD!

  • Helltrack & qualifier filmed in Calgary & Cochrane, Alberta.

  • Guys anybody knows where is this Place where they make the movie?? i wanted to go.. anyone plss... thanks..

  • Hilarious comments, Miss these greats & the other with the black street bike fighting crime,Knighthawk i think.Miss that time period before the wars & greed & lust took over the world.Love the chrome & yellow Redline in intro creds.

  • awsome

  • I still have the VHS and also BMX Bandits thats why i wont get rid of the vcr :) wife thinks im a nut

  • I agree with you all, this was back when times were alot simplier and movies helped to inspire.Sounds like we all grew up on this one, great vid and thanks.

  • I'm not number 33 for nothing.

  • how come hollywood mike miranda can't stay on his fuckin' bike?!

this movie helped me enlist all my little cousins and friends and their parents to get BMX started in my town...

i've never seen that guy (cru) in anything else, i don't think he was a pro rider either... WHO IS CRU JONES?

the dance scene with the twins was fuckin' classic...

and of course lauri laughlin who went on to sucking the cum out of unkle jesse's cock...

who could forget Talia Shire of rocky fame?

    ... i'm erect now

  • I wounder if they can still do those tricks. Best movies are in the 80's.

  • classic...

  • I so love this movie so much to. As a kid watched it every day! Where can i get it again?

  • yea seriously dude! when i was a kid i used to remember like the whole movie! like the last part when they introduce them self! omg dude! i love this movie so muh when i was a kid!

  • i shit you not, i watch this movie every fucking day. it is still my favorite movie of all times.

  • I've probably watched this movie close to 200 times. When I would rent The Dirt Bike Kid, I would keep watching the previews to Rad over and over again. Can you believe my fiance asked if we could throw away my original VHS copy of Rad because I have it on DVD also. She just don't know what Rad is all about.

  • I grew up on this movie

  • this movie was my childhood.

  • it sure is a kickass soundtrack.. my favourite movie as a kid..

  • hello there...anybody who knows LINKS where i can watch the full movie of this film? thanks i'll gladly appreciate any help you could extend to me...",) thanks

  • 1:37 soooo oldschool i use to that. rocked the blue tho

  • I found this on DVD a few years back. Definately one movie that will NEVER leave my collection. The best way to find it is by searching the internet, and not just on Amazon or EBAY. Best bet is to search for RAD DVD on google or yahoo. There's a chance you'll find someone who has a copy. But this is definately one of the best, along with Thrashin', North Shore, Breakin', No Retreat No Surrender, etc. The list is way too long to mention of 80's greats. "No Guts, No Glory!"

  • They never made this on DVD. You can buy a couple on ebay but they are copies off the VHS. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, but it won't be DVD quality.

  • Well, basically they were copied off vhs. But, regardless, having ANY copy of the movie is worth it. I found my copy at a collectible show for comics and such. They were also selling copies of "No Holds Barred", "Gleaming The Cube", and many others that can be REALLY hard to find.

  • I don't want this to look like spam, but you can get it for 12.99 on dvd here.. rad-dvd com

  • WHERE CAN I GET A COPY OF THIS MOVIE. used to own it when i was a young lad but my familr moved and can not find the video. NEED A COPY BAD.

  • the only thing I'm good at is riding this bike.

  • i have a copy of it on dvd i downloaded it and burned it to dvd & i watch this movie reguraly i also have thrashin' on dvd too 80's forever !!!!

  • WHERE???? I'd kill to know where to get it. I guess I haven't looked hard enough lol

  • Well done! only the best movie ever.

  • cool

  • They were 20" rims, therefore Everything was believable!!! Fo Sho

  • Check out the 6 foot drop to flat at :53. No way old school 24" rims could have taken that abuse. But everything else is believable, LMFAO.

  • Unfortunately Cru wasn't a real BMXer... But I am sure he fooled you!!

  • I know its a movie, damn great one! These guys were doing flips and tricks before it was cool... Props to Cru Jones and Eddie Fiola whom is the reason why they made rad!! Eddie Fiola can be seen at the end when they're doing intros to hell track.

  • Cru Jones the character? Was he a real BMX racer? This was one of my favorite movies of all time.

  • '...you could have at least waited till I was done dancin'...RAD is by far the best movie in the history of 80's flicks...I was lucky enought to snag a VHS copy on Ebay. "EAT YOUR HEART OUT HULK HOGAN----A BACK FLIP!"

  • Does anyone know where you can buy this movie???

  • One of the mos influencial movies for kids in the 80's. After watching this me and my friends would go riding all day! There aren't movies made like this anymore. It's a shame, I feel bad for kids today.

  • Best film ever!!

  • Such a great time in my life when all I worried about was watching Rad and riding my Pro Series. "The good ol' days!"

  • Great movie, wonderful songs

  • rad is sweet man! i remember going out and getting the blue flight pads and tires. cru is a great name too.

  • For years this was the greatest movie ever made. My life revolved around RAD. I was HEAVILY involved in BMX racing until my early 20's. I was just fortunate enough to be living in Calgary, Canada (where they filmed RAD) during that time. It was incredible.

  • Watching this takes me back to when i was just a kid and saving up for my redline with the oddessey brakes with mags wheels and snakebellies to come in... i chose a baby blue one with white mages with pegs...

  • Nightmare... shited up all about BMX in the world... now noone realy knows what is BMX

  • man, this brings back memories, my mom banned me from watchin it cuz i acucally tried some of this, use to rent every week

  • Cru Johnes. Bart Taylor. Ass slidn' with Laurie Laughlin. Without a doubt the best movie ever made! RAD is probably the only movie I have bought 3 different times because of either my friends stealing it from me or just plain worn out. BREAK THE ICE BITCHES!

  • Man, what a magical feeling I had when I saw this as a kid. Those bikes and outfits and tricks were cool in an indescribable way.

  • Dude, I couldn't of said it better myself. I watched this flick uncountable times. This needs to come out on DVD!!

  • This remake makes me wanna dust off the old GT BMX bike and do sum stupid tricks on my pegs lol! Thanks for this masterpiece!

  • Great clip.... Thanks heaps!!

I hate to be a wet sock but I'm sure 'Thunder In Your Heart' sounds slightly slower than the actual recording that was used in the film (??)

  • One of my favorites as a kid, and in the top 3 of my most watched movies ever list. I watched it almost nonstop, between 1987-1999 or 2000. I don't watch it nearly as often now, but I do break it out every once in a while, for memories.

  • Love this movie. Use to see it over and over and over again and knew every word to this movie when I was a kid. Lost my VHS copy and now I have to get a hold of it again and watch it!

  • Anybody tell me where i can find one of them cru jones shirt

  • This really IS the greatest movie. I've seen it about 50 times now. Gives me that feeling of nostalgia.

If anyone wants a copy of it on DVD you can get it on Ebay. My boyfriend surprised me with one when I recorded over my VHS copy.

"and you're gonna pick me up how? on that dumb bike?"

    "...ya"

    HAHA! classic.

  • all i can say is WOW! thanks for uploading this! now all i need is the video again!

  • Dude I saw this when I was like 10 and fell in love with it. I am 25 now. I was into bmx racing so this was in heavy rotation before races.

  • Same here, man! I watched this EVERY day and then went out BMXing!

Definitely a classic in my book, too. The soundtrack is AMAZING!

I haven't watched it in years. I lost my VHS tape, and I'm dying to see it again. This clip made my day!

I loved The Dirt Bike Kid trailer! LOL

  • totally rules.. brings back memories with my old friends.. hey dan!!! u ruled the bmx man.. from shel!! in the grove

  • Cru Jones Rules ! Long Live Rad ! Helltrack !

  • This was my video bible as a flatland junkie in Jersey. I love this movie and you did an awesome job compiling the highlights.

If you still have this movie, can you PLEASE host the ending credits? I've been searching everywhere. My favorite part is at the end where Martin and R.L. fade out shaking hands while doing cherrypickers.....awesome!

  • Yes. It is about time that someone paid tribute to this cult classic. It used to be that as a kid, I'd only see the trailer for this film on video before The Dirt Bike Kid VHS I owned. It's been 20 years now since this film came out and I own 2 different soundtracks for the film and 2 different DVDs. Both yet to be released in those formats in America publicly. Hopefully, there'll be an official DVD release of Rad in the upcoming years.

  • wow.. its been a long long time since i have seen this movie.. this movie is up there with the other 80's classics.. like the karate kid and back to the futre. in my book anyways.. love this video.. awsome..

  • The Song is Break the Ice, great video

  • There are 2 songs in this video, Break the Ice AND Thunder in your Heart.
