Hi normally my music teacher taught me all this but he made it more confusing than it needed it to be but now i can read simple music thanks to this video
i went to a music school for about 2 months and i was so frustated ...i went to learn music because i thought it might help and i never understood a word there..and here i am so helpless and confused to whether play my guitar or just sell it BUT u inspired me like hell..now i realize music is so fun and easy to learn......Greetings from Nepal( a country someone barely knows because it is about 150 times smaller than united states) and keep on the Good Work.....Namastey!!
Great job! Awesome presentation! You really made this video not only simplistic in learning about notes and beats, but how to look at them in a conceptual manner to remembering these notes. Thank you.
Wow you are really good at this. I am an adult, never learned to read music or play an instrument and I thought this would be extremely difficult but you break it down in such a way that's easy to comprehend. I am attempting to learn guitar and this is a great start. Thank you so much :)
@waltribeiro@youwilldiecuzkristof , I was joking, the a's sounded a bit like o's to me. But what do I know about American accents.. I'm Dutch! :). Nonetheless, great video's Walt! Too bad the focus is on guitar instead of piano. I "gave" up on guitar when I was young.
I am so clueless when it comes to reading music and so far I am able to follow this lesson. I am extremely grateful for this video posting. Thanks so much!
... We waste millions of tax dollars on education, yet you provide it here for free... And I can actually comprehend what you are saying. For those who wasted many hours with professors that have taught but nothing, yet learn the simplistic basics here, I feel for you. Thank you sir, this will not be forgotten.
A free in depth, beginners guide to music theory! We have, "Learn How to Read Music," tutorials, as well! We have free video lessons! This site originally was being developed to help people considering becoming music majors prepare for music theory classes, but we decided to help people who were just starting to read music, as well. Our lessons are in a specific order, developed in a way that teaches you what you should know, in the best order to learn it in. Again, all of this for FREE!!!

It is an stunning site with a good visual appeal. It's fascinating to see how visitors share their comments. It's awesome to read a site that's not cluttered with advertisement. Enjoying the way the site caters for young and mature visitors as well.
@waltribeiro This was very helpful, but it didn't answer my probably very basic question. When someone hands you a piece of music you've never seen before, how do you know what the sound is of the note to start on?
hi every body . look i have a good earing but i cant read music so you need to put in the nime of the video like vid 1 vid 2 .......ex that seems easy think you so mutch frend
these are the tips that everybody should see.. but of course if one wants to learn the piano there should be some kind of teaching process. personally i find the following course best value:
Master Braxton, you've got to get this. In the long run, it will make you a lot greater than you already are. I'm self-taught, so it was hard for me to have to go back and learn academically what I was doing musically. It is t4edious, but necessary, sort of like medicine. krxn11
Gah. x.x I was understanding at first but when you were labeling the notes at the last like, 2 minutes I was lost. I was like. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. x.x Isn't that a G or -
How do you read the chords represented in letters above the note? Is it always played from where the note is on the scale, then upward? And when I see a letter (chord) above a column of 2 or more notes, how is that supposed to be played?
I'm trying to learn (I am beginning my drumming lessons soon). Our Quad-Tom player is leaving next year (senior) so pur band is starting to fall apart >,< but I think I can do it! :D
