Its important to see theses types of logical fallacies discussed as conservatives love their bumper sticker slogans but sometimes it seems they are deliberately stupid and seem to rejoice in their stupidity. Scientists dropped the term “global warming" over a decade ago but they have to cling to it or otherwise conservative sheeple might have to activate their gray matter and try and understand that “the biggest snowstorm in east coast history” likely is evidence of “global climate change.”
@detoth67 Quit spewing out your talking points. All MSNBC shows are heavily funded by Shell and Exxon (which can be seen by their commercials), yet they have the nerve to say that 'big oil' is funding AGW skeptics. Ever notice how they never mention what companies are part of 'big oil'? It is because they (MSNBC and climate scientists) are the ones who are funded by the big corporations and bankers who have made an abomination of the scientific process with this fraud.
@Airstripone1984 I bet you aren't aware that the vast majority of not only climatologists, but scientists in general global governments, world scientific organizations and associations, Universities, etc... all show climate change to be real and human caused.
But according to mouth breathers, they're all in on a big giant conspiracy together, funded by special interests and involving hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people.
@detoth67 Sir, I have researched climate change, I used to be a big supporter and believer. It isn't hard to buy and manufacture scientific consensus. Climate-gate exposed a lot of how the researchers at CRU bastardized the peer review process and prevented independent sources from looking at their data. There are constantly scandals coming out that blow giant gaping hole in the credibility of the IPCC and AGW science in general. You are the one who isn't aware, i'm sorry to say.
@Airstripone1984 Conspiracies aren't as hard to organize as you think, millions of people don't have to be in on it. You just need a few 'high priests'/experts/academics to come out and say one thing and the rest of the lemmings will follow. And please quit insulting my intelligence with your prejudices of people who are critical of AGW. You have been brainwashed by the media to think anyone who disagrees with AGW is some southern right wing red neck, that isn't true.
@Airstripone1984 And YES conspiracies are difficult to organize. If you study the history of conspiracies (including many real ones) you'd see that they fail far more often than they succeed. And the ones and do succeed have limited people involved and are very simple to execute. A conspiracy like the one your psychosis forces you to believe would necessitate a scale that would make it completely impossible.
@Airstripone1984 Actually, "Climate-gate" didn't expose anything. Its been shown that the data they left out wouldn't change the models or disprove warming.
I'm sorry, but who should I trust on this? 100% of peer reviewed science journals, the vast majority of scientific associations, 98% of climate scientists... or some boob on the internet?
@detoth67 All you have to stand on is this myth of scientific consensus. It is the oldest trick in the sales-man book. It is so cheap it is ridiculous. 9 out of 10 doctors recommend crest toothpaste, 9 out of 10 doctors recommend tylanol over advil, 9 out of 10 doctors recommend benadryl over tylanol. Get real, such an obvious hoax.
@detoth67 And yes the CRU e-mails do reveal that the researchers were intentionally excluding peers that didn't agree with them and denied other scientist the means to reconstruct their models. I must admit I oversimplified when I said 'hard to organize', sure it is difficult to organize a conspiracy, but it doesn't have to involve as many people as you think. Every 'conspiracy debunker' always has this last leg to stand on: the idea that it is just too big to keep secret.
@detoth67 Organizing conspiracies is all about compartmentalization in a pyramidal structure. Only the first few levels need know the truth the rest are just useful idiots who have an honest desire to do good, they aren't evil at all. Their desire to do good has been manipulated. Their love for this planet, like yours, has been prayed upon by tricksters who are trying to subvert environmentalism and turn it into a tool against the people rather than the big polluters who allegedly caused it.
@detoth67 And what is with all this hostility? "A conspiracy like the one your psychosis forces you to believe". I am trying to talk to you on a rational level, but all you can do is attack. This is called a logical fallacy. I called you brainwashed, i'm sorry. I meant to say you have been misinformed. It happens, no need to get mad about it. It happened to me. I must really stress this. Two years ago I would have been you, but just look a little deeper.
@detoth67 Realize you have been programmed, it doesn't mean you are stupid. You may be very intelligent, but that doesn't make you insusceptible to propaganda.
how are they contradictory and hypocritical? In my opinion they are using facts and empirical data to back up their opinions. they sound logical and knowledgeable about the climate change.
@NefetiriSianNephele They say the weather isn't proof that climate change is real, and then they turn around and say that it is proof that climate change is real and that even normal/seasonal temperatures are proof of climate change.

@Airstripone1984 So 98% of climate scientists are funded by big corporations? You're out of your mind!

@detoth67 Not necessarily 'big corporations', but special interests of the fortune 100 and above. And i know, i'm just super off the wall nutty
