You didn't really say what the two strikes were. Claustrophobic and lack of audio jack? I agree with the later, but it's a small car so what do you expect about the former? It's to be expected.
I can't understand american people.. this is a medium class car in europe, and is faaaaaaaar enough for 5 people (an average family).. I also dont understand, why the saturn adopted only the 3 door version (Opel Astra H GTC).. they would have known that this would not be a succesful chassis in the US, due to less comfort.. The other thing is, this car was here in Europe since 2003-2004, and theyre bringing it to the U.S. right before the new series (I) arrives?? How does this make sence??
the 5 door XE model is the cheapest astra here and IS sold in the US, its just the reviewers that suck. and you have to admit, we have no freedom to choose drivetrains here outside of the manuel or automatic. You guys have diesels etc. I hate how these American car companies treat us like communists, give us some goddamn choices!
Clostrophobic in a compact this roomy, come on. Tere's plenty of space to accomodate 2 more passengers in the back, even on long trips. However, THEY may feel clostrophobic due to the lack of outer-sight (read: tiny, unopenable (AFAIK) rear windows).
And your crappy mileage figures might come from the test itself (I don't think revving the engine like that for show purposes favors fuel economy on a short test period), as in real life I'm achieving figures comparable to the Aveo (34MPG avg).

Didn't look like much leg room. That's why he said not much space. If someone was in the back they would feel crammed.
