By the He-Man movie that came out "a few years back" do you mean the one that came out in '87? 22 years is more than a few years back...A Thundercats movie is in the works for 2010. It'll be right up there with Transformers and GI Joe, which also looks amazing...

You make a good point. The low budget, He-Man movie was in fact a gazillion years ago. So there's no comparison. I just feel He-Man and Thundercats were similarly weak premises for cartoons. Can't see how Thundercats will work as a movie. But then again, the same could have been said for the Transformers, which turned out to be a solid movie. And you are right., the G.I. Joe previews look awesome. All I can say is I hope Thundercats lives up to the hype.

Live action probably wouldn't have worked as well. It was a cartoon, and one of those that was more outlandish. I mean, it was much more fantasy/sci-fi, and it didn't take place on our Earth. Plus, it's much less expensive for the production company this way. That means a quicker turn-around.

If you remember Thundera blew up and the thundercats left in ships..

The mutants attacked the ships and pretty much only the flag ship survived.. They all jumped into suspension capsules except Jaga who piloted the ship till he croaked.. Panthro speaks of the ship not being able to make it to there original destination due to damage and can only make a tiny blue planet in a solar system the third from the sun.. remember?
