Vanguard vs WoW: Part 1, Character Creation

The 15 classes is true in the Vanguard, but the khm.."19 races" is not. 5 races human and 5 elf races (half elf, darkelf, high elf, motherfuckerelf and etc.) So the 19 races is not this. The Warcaft have only 10 (sorry, 12) races but this races is really races! And the Star Wars galaxies too have only 10 races but this races they very specific. Sorry my english is not the best, but I think you understand what is my problem whit the Vanguard.

The problem with this video is that you took the time to explain a lot of different aspects of Vanguard and sped through WoW. You can easily make WoW character creation take just as long if you put considerable thought into it, and explained the different aspects of character creation instead of speeding through just to make it look like it faster. Yes it's less complex but I think this video really simplified it.

Look I've played both Vanguard and WoW and to say the least... i like WoW better. I may not be giving Vanguard a chance since i bought it when it first came out but... I like a game where i can get on for an hour or so a night and at least get up half of a level which i can do in WoW and not Vanguard, and Vanguard seems like a more in depth and Story-driven game that i really just couldn't get into... so IMO i like WoW better but i might try this game again in the future

This assumes one takes the stance that one game is better by sheer volume of subscribers. I posit, however, that it is gameplay and content which makes a game superior. Though I puttered out on the video-making and this project when I started school, Vanguard has remained far superior in both gameplay and quality of content - which is good not because of the purpz it gives but because of the difficulty involved and sense of accomplishment in participating .

Sorry, but good content and gameplay are what attract subscribers in the first place. No, Vanguard does not compare to WoW in either gameplay nor content; never has and never will. Although it is a good spin on the mmo genre, and has attracted a neat little niche of players. Still though, not comparable to WoW, and if you think it is; you need to go play WoW.

@TheVlord240 World of warcraft was good when it first came out, It was not filled with immature twelve year olds that spend fifteen hour a day on the game. I have no problem with little kids but sometimes they can be annoying another problem is there isnt much customisation. Warhammer in my opinion was way better then WoW because of the customisation and classes the only problem was well Mythic just sucks at making games that is all

that might be true but on most SoE games it takes 2-3 hours to find a nonduel PvP because they don't market any of their games, their populations are a joke. WoW is like Mcdonalds billions served but not that good. still playing with thousands of other ppl is always better than looking for the other 11 players logged in to a sony game. 9 of them being carebears, the 10th an ex star craft player from korea, the 11 a chinese gold famer.SoE crafting is neat, too bad there's no one to buy anything

I've played over 1000 hours of Vanguard - active played not afk. And played a few hundred of wow as well. So I'd consider myself fairly well versed on both games. In every respect I think I prefer Vanguard. The game is significantly more involving and deep. Player skill and knowledge plays a huge part in every encounter, not twitchy skill though like an fps but skill nonetheless.

Since its launch Vanguard has been one of the most under-rated games in the market and ironically one of the best.

@Cheezis1 Actually though I still play Mmo's I'm not really a majorly hardcore player these days. At the time though I was off-work for four months and had enough time comfortably play 10+ hours per day 7-days a week, so I did. Had a wonderful four-months. ;D

Vanguard is DEFFINATLY better than WoW, I've played them both. The game is MUCH better designed, not just graphics. The layout of the continents, the combat system, crafting and diplomacy. Even the community is better. I noticed with WoW it's mostly young pricks and jerks (No offense, some one my friends play it >.>) VG, everyone is more grown up and I havn't met a person I didn't like. The quest lines are much better aswell, it's deffinatly a better game

If you are an end game freek then WoW is for you if you enjoy exploring and multitude of unique characters and non generic adventures Vanguard is better. I have played both and am sticking to Vanguard after having 2 lvl 70s in wow.

This was a very interesting video.

I've played both and thought both WoW and Vanguard are fun to play, but WoW has it's flaws that you only have so much to do, either you raid or pvp, you can also farm rep with different factions but that's just as fun as grinding (which sucks donkey balls). But I remember the time when I played vanguard, how much you could do not just what I've said before, so !IMO! WoW gets totally beaten by vanguard

Your opinion is myopic, to say the least. If you extensively played both games with equal zeal, you'd know that there are more things to do in WoW come end game. The number of WoW's content patches alone are a testament to this, close to 20, compared to Vanguard's number of significant patches, 2. If your complaint is that WoW is all about raiding or PvP or rep grinding, what makes Vanguard better when its end game is all about raiding or world PvP or grinding for faction buffs?

When I played vanguard, the gameplay was ripe with bugs, there were no endgame and classes were severely imbalanced.

Even then the players of vanguard claimed it was "better" than WoW. I find it amusing that a game mimicing WoW in so many ways tries to distance itself in other ways. In my opinion its just another MMO reaching for the top, but getting kicked and stabbed by the sponsors on the way there and coming out sub-par.

I agree a bit, but WOW is still pretty pathetic in what choices it gives us even within those races. I mean it's terrible how little choice they give the player in changing their appearance. Look at even the dead Star Wars Galaxies ... at least you could feel like you created a toon you wanted.

To be honest, WoW ruined the Massive in mmo's. It set a new standard and new foundation to mmo's. Now publishers think mmo's need tons of pvp, instances left and right, very linear leveling pattern, gear grind and small zones. Vanguard is a representation of what MMO's where made to be, Massive. What happened to player housing? making ships? having a HUGE world? dynamic economy? exploration? diversity? Indepth classes/races? All these were taken away when WoW came out.

Play again - Vanguard has fixed itself the comabt is MUCH for intense and actually involving - also - Vanguard was made like EQII was, when EQII came out there wasn't a computer that could play it of full - turn the graphics down cause not alot of PCs can play on full - Mine can only come close

I can't agree with you more although I'm not sure if it's WoWs fault and if WoW is entirely to blame for it, but I can totally agree with you on that one! I've never played an mmorpg that allows you to build a house, change body mass (well I have hellgate london and that is a FAIL) I would totally think about playing vanguard...Really I would and I am, I think it's great how in-depth it is, but is it that populated anymore?

But very nice job comparing them tho hehe. I am a lvl 50 and have been playing Vanguard for over 10 months now and have explored a little more then half of what vanguard has instore for everyone. Although vanguard has more races, the physical features of them all are almost identical. Unlike WoW (where every race run, cast, dance, and talks differently), every race in vanguard does the same thing physically. In the end it is not hard to make all those races in Vanguard, it's just copy and paste with a little modification.

Yea I didn't really consider Spec when I put this together. The main thing is, while you have 27 variants on 9 classes, in the end that's used by Blizzard as an excuse.

In Vanguard, every class gets the Dev love and can function great in raids, solo, and pvp.
