Your vids are inspirational and make me excited to finally go natural! I am thinking of getting braided extensions to transition my hair. How long did you have your braids in? How did you wash/condition/moisturize your braids? When did you finally decide to BC?
I'm a one of those people who is TERRIFIED ::insert horror movie scream here:: of the BC...I feel that because of my height and weight I will look to scary and I have a big head. Today marks the day that I officially gave up relaxers, I'm sitting in the beauty shop now and getting my hair done with natural products by Giovanni (and I have some other natural at home products that I've purchased) I can't think of the name of them. Any recommendations for transitioning with relaxed ends? Thanks <3
I view all videos from blackberry and unfortunately I can't see this one but I have learned so much. I have not had a perm in 3 months and I have been using the shea butter pomade on it and me and my hair love it. Right now my hair braided down and I am wiggin' it out but I can see growth and I look forward to more from you. BTW I looking for a good basic regimen what do u suggest? And what do u consider basic necessities for transitioning hair? Thanks!!!!!
I have permed hair still at the top of my head but the back is all natural cause the permed hair broke it off. Should I just do the Big Chop to make my hair even all around?
Im so ready to go natural, i don't think i'd care about the BC but i have a boyfriend who likes long hair yet he also likes natural and im so scared of him loosing an attraction to me when i cut my hair :( i guess i'll talk to him more about it but uggh, its scary
@MoonScar I feel our dilemma!my fiance' likes long har too!, I've been natural with relaxed ends for 4 monthsandim scared to just chop it off, but i think i will b soon
Great advice especially about working in Corporate America. I currently work in Corporate America as an Analyst and am one of a handful of Black American professionals. I'm careful about the styles I wear and tend to have a more simple style during the week :)
I absolutely love your videos! Thanks so much for taking time to share with us!! I will be transitioning for a year in December. I had a hard time managing the different textures and long story short my hair is very uneven in the crown. I really dont want to cut it even because I am not comfortable with my hair being so short. What would you recommend to stop the breakage in the crown? I want to try and let it grow out and then once its at a comfortable length I will cut it even. Thanks!
So I'm transitioning, this is my second transition. Currently I have my hair in braids BUT one concern i do have is moisturizing while its in braids. I've been putting raw unrefined castor oil on my scalp, but i'm not sure what the best way to moisturize my hair shaft. Braids sprays like African Pride are o-k, but I don't feel like they do much. Oil based sprays that I use to use are now out of the question b/c they're mineral oil based and i'm trying to be product conscious.. Any Suggestions?
I did something so horrible ! Lol. At the START of my natural hair journey, when I did the bc I watched one of your videos.. About the applic cider and I didn't watch the WHOLE thing. SO I filled the apple cider up in this HUGEEE cup and a LITTLE bit of water instead of the other way around. My hair got really dry and brittle after that. My hair is WAY stronger now because it's been two months and i've been keeping it up, but is my hair permanetly damaged now ?
@beebeememe Lol! That's good! Now that you're over it, you're going to turn around and all of a sudden be like "where did all this hair come from!?!" lol, bc you weren't spending all your time watching it like a hawk! <3
You were on point about enjoying your twa while you have it. I'm constantly fighting myself to keep from cutting my length b/c I miss the light maintenance of short hair.
Ahhh, you have a cat! Can we see her/him one day? I'm a cat fanatic as you may be able to guest, lol.
@Goddess298 lol! Of course! I have two cats! They are both female, one is "Chubs" the other is "Bella". Bella was the cat in my backpack in the random clips video, lol, they are both really affectionate and sweet <3
You are right about learning how to care for your hair when it's short. I wore extensions for a year and a half and my hair grew so much. Now I am finally learning how to work with my hair and I'm afraid to touch it because I don't want it to fall out! I've just never known how to care for my hair and I'm kind of at a dead end. But I feel that I need to learn not for me but for any female children I have later. I want to be able to teach them to care for their hair.
@leeshyeternally <3 Aww, I know that must be tough <3 Stick with it girl, it'll be second nature soon enough <3 There were times when my hair was a pain in the butt, and it was short, so I can only imagine how you feel... :((
Wonderful video! I love cats I have two :) My cat scratches on the side of her box too. I bet your cat doesn't want to get her paws dirty in the litter. LOL
@TheBraceface3000 Give it some time girl <3 I don't know what length you are at currently, but just wait to see how it will grow out once it is shoulder length. You might just need to get used to your hair pattern, and see how it all falls together once it grows out <3
Hi, I really like your videos and i was wondering
1) what type of natural products you use to maintain your hair?
2) How often do you get your ends trimmed?
3) how long ago did you start your transition from relaxed to natural...
Thanks :D

I know that you are an advocate for experiencing short natural hair, but did you ever experience the big chop with the long hair left over?

Hey danyale06! I'm just a bit confused, big chop with long hair left over? Do you mean transitioning with relaxed ends? <3

@TheBraceface3000 Then you may want to go back to the chemicals or deal with what's growing out your scalp.
