i remember when i plowed my dads shop,(well call it that it was more of a yard were he puts dumpters, cause where in the dumpster buisness)and it was about 3 acres and i plowed all by my self when i was 5 years old on the good old Case

This is very good plowing your son did.I have a snowplowing video to.It had a big excavator doing the plowing. It made a big mountain of snow on my street.then they removed it and I have a video of that too.Very cool
kid does a decent job running it. although its best not to run the loader full power. it is easier on your hydraulics, bushing, pins and its just better overall not to
dang kid! keep on goin your doin good. im 15 and only have a ford skid steer its an old one and one of the cylinders was bent on it. so i fixed it but i still want to try it on snow.
i work for a bobcat skidsteer dealer in oklahoma and in the winter we get more ice than snow. we scoop off snow a little but i just take forklift and tilt forks forward and set on ground and boogie. breaks ice off ground and move with buckets. we sell a jillion bucket edges also and i HATE installing them. removal is the kicker, theyre worn out and generally have to be lopped off with torch, then set the new one on ground with a bolt thru holes and drop bucket on it.
Great vid. Check out my channel to see my 773 with a meyers 7ft truck blade attached. I did the bucket deal for a couple years then stepped up to the truck blade & cut my plow time by over half. It works great & I can stack snow 12ft high with my setup. I ordered a bobtach plate & fabbed my own mounts on it.
When that kid hurts himself or somebody else...that father is going to rethink his M.O. for the rest of his life.90 % of all HD accidents happen in construction and farms.
@tscholent I have over 2000hrs operating bobcats & that kid is doing just fine. I bet you are against the gal sailing around the world also. Sux to be your kid all wrapped in foam pads with kleenex stuffed up each nostril
@GotBait Better to raise him in a rubber room so he does not know how not to hurt himself until you turn him loose at 18? I doubt thats the first time that kid drove that skid or that his fathers only instructions were to tuck his boots in. My sons is 6 and has been plowing snow with me since he could stand (not walk) between my knees.
He will be pushing snow soon and by the time he gets his drivers licence he will have some understanding of the laws of physics
@beyondupnorth I am very much Pro getting the kids operating equipment at the youngest possible age. I learned so much as a kid just watching dad & others. Thats great that you are training your son he will be amazed how much he picked up over the years when it's his turn to fly solo. Kids need to be exposed to this stuff otherwise like you say they wont know anything when unleased on the world at age 18. Snow coming soon!
@DamnStraightM35A2 I chain up on the back & never get stuck here in Alaska with my 773. sound like you are experiancing the effects of operator error ;)
@dkchapss wtf, hes horrible, im his age and i plow drive ways all over my town, i plow the fucking side walks all over the town and he cant even go in a strait line
@TIGERCAT660 well good for you do u want a cookie or something maybe he doesn't have as much experience as you. there isn't very many kids that even do this shit anymore
i agree that a toothed bucket makes it hard...I am using a bucket with a straight edge, it works pretty good...it doesn't work bad enough to make me want a plow
Caterpillar Skid Steers are way better. That Bobcat must be older, since it didnt even have the enclosed cab. Next time get a Cat and you wont have to dress warm because Cats are enclosed and heated. And easier to operate!
That's HIS bobcat??? Lucky kid

Machine is giving a code, that's the beeping. Not bad for a tooth bucket, I'd expect much more leftover than that.

I would suggest a little warm up time, and less engine rpm. Way to much revs for the job at hand. That will increase the life of the engine as well.

I would suggest a little and throttle it back a bit. Way to much RPM. This will teach him to be a good operator.

First of all for clearing snow with a bucket u need a bucket without the teeth so u can scrape the ground better

also I see no need to have the motor revved up at full song...it works just as good at half speed
DamnStraightM35A2 2 years ago
skid steers totally suck in all off camber snow situations, got mine stuck twice yesterday....they also don't work good in over a foot of snow....

@DamnStraightM35A2 I chain up on the back & never get stuck here in Alaska with my 773. sound like you are experiancing the effects of operator error ;)

@GotBait I don't chain, when the snow compacts after driving on it it turns to ice, without chains its difficult to operate on a hill.....

Personal Preference and not all Cat skidsteers have enclosed cabs either.
I have to say the Cat and ASV machines are by far my favorite though.
Also not sure why you're using a tooth bucket for snow, must be all they had available at the time?
Troysthebest 2 years ago 6
I like Cat the most, then Bobcat. I'd have to agree that its stupid he is using a tooth bucket.
