@ mrkirk379. Amen to that man! You could clearly see he was on uneven ground. I drive an end dump and I always get out and walk around the truck to make sure I'm on even ground.
@Drofeddamite It's a frameless trailer, and when your lifting one you need to be on level ground, otherwise it will lean and well.. This happens.. If you do need to unload on level ground you gotta be ready to let it down fast if it leans
Anyone here around back in the 60's with spread axle air slide trailers that were precurser to hopper pneumatic trailers? Same principle as frameless dumps, but 48K sitting on rear axle with trailer almost vertical.Vibrator pad would move load to valve for blowing off product. Some places had special concrete pads for them.If not absolutely level, call company, tell them you quit and here's where the truck is. Wish I had taken a picture of one unloading.Back then it was just doing your job.
Iv been dumping for 6 months & driving for 18 years, after that many years I know where to put my trailer and when to tell the man on the ground "NO". My safety is 1st, then everything else comes after and thats why I dont dump if Im not level. Hell, my 45 ft JMH has a sticker on it that says "do not raise trailer on uneven surfaces, tractor and trailer must be in a straight line" . Out riggers aren't needed when you have common sense. Being new to dumping, I keep an eye on whats going on.
I pull a frame less Vantage 38 ft and have never even had a point where I thought it was going over .I hauled sand .Now the was a guy that hauled a trailer just like mine and he had been dumping for 20 plus yrs and he dumped it over and ended in the hospital .there are many different situations ,air bags ,leaf spring ,super single tire blow out that is what happened to my friend .Dont make judgement unless you were there
All things has its limitations. His trailer was too close to the right and his load didn't come out the nose. Once it starts going, it's gone. Also there is a machine on the job that could have pushed that load to where it was needed instead of putting the truck so damn close to the edge.
@trokeroelinquieto Well, I have been running dumps long enough to know if the trailer is not on level ground not to dump. Just common sence. Been doing this every day for the past 15 years.
I been running trailer dumps for 23 years, never lost one yet. I watch the cylinder in the trailer and if it is in the center between the two sides your alright (BUT) if you get some wet sticky stuff and the cylinder can be good going up and half your load comes out on one (side) of the trailer and not the other, then it can roll over. You just have to watch it and let it down and hopefully it hasn't went to far over.
@joshT1118 even if he droped it when it tilted to the right it would of went faster. fully loaded still in a wable breaks the cilinder or just shoves it because of the weight. thats my opinion
i agree total preventable and notice the two bone heads standing alongside the trailer while dumping very lucky i didnt go the other way which is exactly why alot of places do not allow side by side dumping anymore
poor bastard.... he was probably havin a bad day... but anyone who thinks this wasnt his fault is a fool. if it wasnt his fault... then WHYD IT HAPPEN?? DUHHH
Nice show lol. been there, done that, and got the t shirt . if he had shored up the muck beneath his off side trailer wheels, he would have managed to fire it to the top ram as quickly as possible, and pulled forward without going on his ribs. But until ye put a tipper over, yer not a real tipper driver lol. Thats what my boss told me after i did it, and it made me a bit less trusting of loading shovel drivers, and tipping trailers lolol. but aslong as the drivers ok, who cares? its only a lorry
if you look closely the truck and trailer move forward a little bit too before it went over. i would have raised it a little bit at a time and paused when the load started coming out and only raise it when the flow stopped. but i would've been smart enough to be on firm level ground with the truck and trailer perfectly straight
All the men in this video are responsible for this accident. Driver on unstable and sloped ground. No one watching the truck end on. If there was they would have seen the thing pitching over as it was being raised, and informed the driver. Lucky no one is killed.
@ManiacalKiwi Negative. Ultimatly the driver is responsible for his gear. Dozens of times I was asked to raise my bed and dump off whee I didn't think was safe, so I flat out refused. I'd rather have a pissed off customer because I didn't dump where they wanted me to, then roll a truck on it's side, killing someone, myself or destroying a house, or other property!!
@techohelp3 well you see wrong. what he did was dump it on unlevel ground. a one inch difference in height between the left wheel and right wheel on the trailer is multiplied by the length of the trailer when its all the way up.
thats a frame less trailer and a careless driver for you those things r suppose to be on completely level ground and when it goes to the side LET R DOWN
Was probably a Mex driving it, working for some idiot company trying to save a few bucks.

that's a huge flaw in the design...there should be support brackets that extend to the road surface whenever the truck is stationary

An end dump needs to be on LEVEL ground, no 3 to 5 %.
Regular end dumps should be on no more that 5 %.
In this application a belly dump should be considered.
