I'm not saying Marines are better in all aspects because each branch has it's specialty. Army is more of an occupying/overwatch force. Marines are like shock troopers, if you will. Thanks to them the those marines who retreated and never turned back to help made it. Yet a marine officer accused them of cowardice...

The group you are speaking of in 1775 was in no way related to the USMC. They were more know as a naval Infantry unit. Yes they were called Marines but they were just a naval infantryman. marines were basically soldiers detailed for naval service whose primary duties were to fight aboard but not sail their ships.
