  • Love

  • search for 'Jovanna' by Luc Hagin

  • This guy, Drake, and Azad Right are putting out the best music right now, no question...

  • @ccgrc4 how can you even put drake in the same sentence as james blake.

  • DOPE

  • @jumma71 Saying something like "trying to stay awake" is so confrontational, you know there are people in here that like this, meaning you want to annoy people, what a nuisance. Saying something like that right after saying everyone has there own taste is so pointless. This is musical, your small attention span doesn't allow you to appreciate it, he's creating an atmosphere, and emotion through the chords. But I bet for you, loud, plus zero subtlety and simple musicianship = good music.

  • I hate this hipster movement to do away with genres. Get a clue, numbskulls! Categorization is in EVERYTHING in life. Movies, literature, music, theatrical arts, painting, the list could literally go on until I've named everything in the world. There's no negative connotation behind a genre unless you give it one. Stop trying to be beyond things just to seem cool. Nobody cares. Just be yourself and enjoy the damn music.

  • @napalmocean mhm hearhear

  • @napalmocean sorry, I know that this is 3 months old but clearly alot of people care, or you wouldn't post a comment on here telling people to stop caring and the debate of genres would simply not exist, if noone cared of course. INFACT if noone cared then there would not be genres and music would be experimental by default. (like back in the good old days)

  • @03lucky You have a good point. I should have said that nobody should care. It is a moot argument, really.

  • @napalmocean ha, yeah man, i don't even know why i posted that really..

  • @03lucky Haha, no worries, it happens to the best of us. Sometimes our emotions or thoughts get carried away.

  • i wonder why this mans music hasnt even been featured in a film yet

  • @5Kpro It's been featured in many television shows, so he's getting out there. He's well known in Europe. America is slowly learning of him.

  • Can we stop inventing genres? There has been a genre that combines soul with basslines. It's called R&B.

  • Beautiful.

  • @MrdjHYPEr awesome

  • @Melle265 Fantastic

  • What's that SHIT?????

  • wo time warp

  • I MEAN LIKE WHY CAN'T WE JUST FORGET ABOUT ALL THIS KESHA BJORK SHIT

    oh wrong song

  • For people asking what genre it is, it's (in a high pitched voice) HI-YAH!

Now can we go back to listening to the song?

  • genregenregenregenre?

  • What Ep is this off of?

  • shouldn't it be pre-dubstep or something? this sounds more like what experimental electronica once sounded like - full of imagination.... before Rusko, Datsik, Excision etc came along

  • it always come back to 'dubstep' doesnt it. why cant people just listen to music and just enjoy it, instead of feeling the need to make pointless and irrelevant comments?

  • I would KILL for this in 320 kbps...

  • this vibrates my penis good

  • Reminds me a bit of Björk...

  • If you like deep and dark real Dubstep please check soundcloud.comfuturisticwaves

  • @FuturisticWaves well shit

  • And if I could have a say I would call this "organic electro"...lol. Who cares about labels anyway...;)

  • And to add to all this "genre" babble, he uses gospel, jazz, and soul chords. The woozy chords that you speak of are just a series of jazz chords within reharmonizations. That's why his repeated melodies never seem stale, he refreshes with new chords.

  • Surely someone's figured these chords? I need them.

  • Hiphop-triphop-dubstep

  • woozy vocals and chords at end get me...

  • @dahrell I was going to say the same thing. something about his voice, the notes, idk. reminds me of childhood or something.

  • @wallpaperkilla me too a lot of his songs do hat for me. Maybe he knows how to strike that emotion

  • I've just got the vinyl and was pleasantly surprised when I heard this.

  • @KetchupToast On his self titled?? :O If it's on there I'm for sure getting this on vinyl!

  • @MrDeviousPixie Yup. In fact it's the opening track of the LP.

  • I think James Blake is blurry... that's the poblem.

  • is there another word for GENRE ?... i really don't like it.

  • I'll just call this experimental.... alright?

  • it's like psychedelic

  • Why you all trying to pigeon hole, ffs it's James Blake, how else do you need to describe it?

  • it's tooth-step garagefunk

  • I think it's called Future-Half-Post-Sledge-Rap-Step-Dubbish-Reggae-Doom

  • You can here it in the beat. Just listen, the kick is on the Proxy-Connection: keep-alive

    Cache-Control: max-age=0

20(plus the 3) and the snare (though very soft) is on the 3.By definitoin this is a 2 step beat. It does not have a direct connection to the 'dub' part of dubstep. That is, the wobble bass, and the echo effects that seem to reapt in triplets.

But as a whole, I think that the classification of 'post-dubst

  • i love step--dub-post wathever

  • I'm pretty sure Future-Garage is more common and better way of describing it.

  • @LABGangsters future garage is a much worse term. although Dubstep 2.0 is definitely worse

  • Sweet. James Blake ladies and gents.

  • dubstep isnt really a big cultural music (like rock for example). to call it post is a bit pretentious...i mean its only been around for 10ish years.

  • post dub-step..?..uhm im just going to go on pretending i never read any of that...

  • atmospheric dubstep.. omnomnom

  • very nice

  • very murky

  • the whole genre thing is kinda outdated. this is just good music right?

  • @oneofthemanyplaces With music like this which is kind of created out of a love with experimentation, pinning a genre name on to it never really serves a great purpose before the term is used to pigeonhole the artists who make it and eventually move and explore the sound in other directions. I dont think its outdated, i just think that the term needs to be taken with a pinch of salt!

  • @oneofthemanyplaces Humans have used categorization for everything. Should we stop categorizing movies by genre? How about books? Should we stop labeling books as fiction and non-fiction? What's the difference, anyways, they're all books, right?

  • oops...Humans have *always* used categorization for everything.

  • i hate the way the term ''post-dubstep'' is being used right now. however i ain't going to hate cause i like the blog.

  • @IndiePhish How exactly do you consider it being used? Not hating here, just curious for your opinion.

  • great!!!

  • so good
