  • I clicked on this thinking it would be Rudyard Kipling's poem: "If you can keep your head about you, while all others are losing theirs, and blaming you... yours is the world, and all that's in it. And, what's more, you'll be a man, my son." Telly would have nailed that.

It's still better than the original record -- and better than anything "sung" by William Shatner.

  • That's why they call me Terry Tibbs.Goodnight, much lav!

  • Elton John's cover of the Beatles 'Lucy in the sky with diamonds' was the number one hit the week I was born. It's an unfortunate coincidence; I hate Elton John, and have pretty much completely disregarded the Beatles. I did find another gem sung by the late great Telly Savalis from later that year; he was, and will always be, more awesome than Elton John and all 5 Beatles combined.

  • one of the first single records I bought... what a voice.....

  • sexiest man that ever lived. miss your sexy voice telly. god bless you.

  • @ciderwomanable1 If you think he's sexy, look at me lol

  • the amazing collossal man!

  • Telly Savalas. Gone before his time

  • my wasent he handsome R.I.P TELLY xxxxxx

  • he was a multitalent, but some say he had a bad temper.

  • this was the era when they were trying to get acters to cross over.hey why not.If you can make more money.I think abe vigoda(fish from barney miller) even had a song out in the 70's

  • Wonderful,to see this again......

  • There is just something about this performance that I really like. He played such a cool, tough guy on t.v. but this video is so sweet and romantic ! Very touching. What a great guy !

  • and to add......for people wishing to commit hari kari,

may i recommend it be done @ 0.20...

  • how horrible was that!... holy crap Kojak!!!

  • satan incarnate

  • The French thought Jerry Lewis was the world's greatest comedian.

  • i love telly like the rest of everybody elses but @1:11 what the fuck?

flatter than my grandma's floppy teets.

  • Telly is great. The king!

Maybe someone again can post his RUBBER BANDS AND BITS OF STRING.

I thought it used to be on youtube, but cannot find it.

  • Let's be honest. If Telly hadn't played Kojak and wasn't in Kelly's Heros but instead was a dishwasher in a mid 1970s inner city dive (which might have been the case), the rightful response to this would have been pure, unadulterated ridicule. It isn't just bad....it's stunningly bad and Savalas must have been ashamed.

  • Hey ive seen this guy on the Telly...

  • @scrumsie yeah he s the baldy bollicks out ov kojak ya muppet he s dead long ago

  • I wish i could download this onto my mp3 player but i cannot find it anywhere.

  • Go On KOJAK..

  • who loves ya baby

  • Kitsch rules!

  • The No.1 single when I was born

    YAY!!!!

  • go baldy!!!!

  • LOL! I was waiting for this record to 'get going' for the first minute until I realised it never does! It was a UK number 1 record though so I suppose savalas doesn't give a sh*t - leaving town with sacks of ca$h

  • At least it's better than Don Johnson's or Paul Micheal Glazers album.

  • or David Hasselhoff!

  • LOL

  • Telly was a king! Pure talent and he was great

  • @pinosworld he was and still is a legend!!

  • Quite a feat--Telly manages to sing two whole choruses without hitting any of the actual pitches. A heavy debt to Captain Beefheart's influence, no doubt...

  • Quite a unique version because Telly actually sings some of the lines.

  • Telly Savalas owns all todays fake boybands and wannabees!!

  • listen to his studio recording? It's a work of art, you knob heads

  • At least it's better than Bruce Willis' album.

  • Beautiful words...

  • I don't think this was big anywhere.

  • No 1 in the UK! 1975

  • LOL Hard to believe, but I believe you. Sort of amazing, as it's so obviously horrible.

  • American in the 70s were overwhelm with Rock ...

  • Who loves ya baby? We do Telly! RIP.

  • why was this HUGE in Europe and NOT in US?

  • something tells me this ship sank because america takes itself a little too seriously to popularize something like this, even ironically.

  • yeah, we take ourselves seriously enough to make Miley Cyrus or Britney Spears national treasures, yikes. Something's wrong here.

  • Ha Ha there's a LOT of good music from abroad especially Europe, from past and present that has me asking the same question.
