According to one of the TTE (Toyota Touring Europe) engineers there were only 3 built and 2 were destroyed in testing (though Two have been seen a black and white one since 2006.) The Engineer also hinted that one could be purchased, though from who and how much was not give.
That thing looks dope. It just looks a little fagile. I wonder how much a set of tyres for that thing will set you back. FYI it's RWD and supposedly it was designed for the twisty rallys. This would've been way cooler than an RS200.
This car is a classic and also very rare so its understandable that he is not pushing the car to the max. You don't wanna be the butt head who destroyed a one of a kind car. If u did you would just have to kill yourself. Is this one the 2 or 4 wheel drive?
@subzero92MK no it was designed for Group S but had too larger engine and potentially for Group B in the 1980's pre-WRC to replace the Celica which wasnt doing very well on the European stages. Unfortunately Group B was disbanded before it ever raced.
i thought the toyota 222d group s mr2 couldnt compete in the group s championship..maybe thats why the guy babied it;to keep it in near pristine condition..it is indeed an ultra rare car..i had an aw11 89 mr2 and it had the 5afe engine in it but its still sitting at my parents house collecting dust and spiders :(
Driving it off boost, weak. I know it's rare but ffs coulda opened it up and let us hear the full glory of it's engine. Kinda disappointing that he babied it.
It is truelly a shame this car never got to make it to the far reaches of performance driving that Group B/Group S could have gotten out of it. Always did have a fantasy of driving this machine in a historic rally or something of the sort, but, with only 3 in existence and one missing, that chance will indeed never come to me. Great to see it still able to be started and driven rather than held inside and under lock and key as the sister car to this one is doing just that. What an amazing era.
The song is Huey Lewis' "Hip to be Square" hahahahaha it makes total sense for a gen 1 MR2. I don't know if THEY knew that when they put it on here.

Looks like the RS200 and the Renault 5 Turbo had a Japanese lovechild

This is a 700HP Rally edition MR2 Mk 1 AW11. The only one of its kind in the world. And what a beautiful machine it is.

never mind that toyota build such a car
i only knew the lancia ecv1/2 before
