  • that was a cool technique for the clay.

  • vbierry. You have no clue about swords do you! It's not rolled 5000 times. It's folded and it can have up to 5000 layers or more/ less. The steel that they use in japan is iron sand and very poor material for swords and that's why they must fold it, it doesn't make it better or stronger then modern steel and as a matter of fact its inferior to modern mono steel like T10 or L6 , there are others. It's all about the swords being made in japan and that's alot of the cost. It's that simple really!

  • I believe that for 500 to 1500$ only the thaitsuki katanas are made in Japan now, but though their katanas are really amazing with a lot of silver and good materials, they are a little heavy to me 1,28kg, I prefer a lighter and versatile sword of 0,95kg for performance as an orchid katana or the golden oriole, both from paul chen.

  • Thaitsuki is 100 % made outside Japan. Cheapest real nihontô is about 4600 $ these days, and they aren't even made by the smith himself, but his students under his supervison. Good nihonto blade, and blade only, in decent polish made by the smith himself would be around 7000 to 8000 $. Theres not a single online shop that sells "good" nihonto. Swordstore, jidai, tozando, etc sells blades made by the students, not the real smiths, or then its the lowest ranking smith.

  • does the kawashima kofu daisho have real hamons?

  • It is my understanding that only the higher end models do.

  • No, but most models now do.

  • A real Samouraï katana is way harder and longer to create, I saw one take 1 month to be created, the leaves of iron were rolled maybe a 5000 times before completion. and you don't put the guard so easily, you have to build it around the sword for better stability.

  • that's why it's price is bigger than normal straight viking sword, not cause of it's sharpness, you can sharpen a plastic pole fore the matter of fact although katana is extremely sharp

  • totally awsome and i cant believe the guys making swords are wearing shinobi shozoku. wow. cool

  • ya its sweet, im getting a kawashima daisho.

  • epic... i want one

  • where are Kawashima swords made?

  • The same place as all production katanas, China

  • Are they really made in china? That finnish site I buy my swords from sells them as japanese?

  • apparantly it says kawashima usa on the footage of the dvd i obtained with mi sword

also on the certificate of authenticity it says it was madein poland very strange ...

  • thes look great, wish i could get one.
