  • So...who was the Best Dressed Lady?

  • on of my goals is to make a Victorian style dress and this is good insperation

  • Dickens would love the bloke in the grubby grey wife-beater undershirt and droopy drawers jeans..

  • I would love to go there! Looks so fun!

  • they needed some more corsets, indeed.

  • This makes me want to learn how to sew. It seems nowadays no one knows how to make these dresses anymore much less corsets and petticoats.

But i have seen some patterns for the latter in McCall pattern books.

  • Wish I could attend this....

  • diz LOL

  • these are all beautiful, i would love to know where you can get a dress like that.

  • @letty1793 Most of these are made by the ladies dressed in them. As they paraded they told us about the background.

  • diz is boring

  • @seximexicangurl214 Why then bother to watch?

  • I was in a Lincoln Douglas debate reenactment and made a dress style like the blue one at 2:27. (Didn't have the skirt quite as full on mine) .I can personally say a BIG Hats Off to anyone and everyone who gets to the finish of making one of these labors of love ! I am just so glad I got to cheat and use my sewing machine on some of it lol : ) ( can't imagine all by hand ...gasp! ) I also reenact the 18th century and it is sooo fun to get to do this kind of stuff with my family I LOVE IT !!!

Love all the bautiful dresses and hoopskirts! A dream!!!!

  • I wad there !

I was the French girl who participated to the bath costumes competition :-)

    it was so great !

I met so great people !!! (the girls with me during the competition were so kind !)

what a wonderful day it was....

I'll be back next month :-)

many thanks and congratulation to everyone who makes this day possible...

see you on the 30th of May

and....did someone film the bath costume compétition ??????

    I'm very interested.

  • so of the dresses do look wrong but I have to give it to them, its bloody hard work making a civil war dress, all those petticoats and all that.

  • I made an 1860s outfit so I know all about hours and hours of work. I was trying to explain why the skirts looked all wonky. ^_^

    Be well,

    Tessalina

  • Looks like a lot of the ladies wore modern bridal hoops which cannot handle the weight of historical skirts. There are a lot of collapsed hoops which is why some of the skirts have a wonky shape. If they had made proper hoops with good hoop steel their skirts would have looked much better. Not having the proper undergarments ruins the shape of historical costume. All that aside I'd love to participate in a cool event like this.

    Be well,

    Tessalina

  • Fantastic!!!!!!! I love it!!!!

I am a transvestite and i know the feelings wearing a dress with hoopskirt!!!!

  • thats sooo cool i wish dallas had this!
