For kids growing up in the 50s, Uncle Al is what you watched for morning TV. I was on the Uncle Al Show in 1958. I actually played "Roger Robot" (early shows had kids who attended the show play parts in the show). I won a tricycle race around a large Grippo Pretzel Can winning a Davy Crockett canteen. I feel blessed to have been a very small part of the Uncle Al experience as Al and Wanda Lewis were truly icons in Cincinnati TV history.
i was on the uncle al show in i think 1972 i was 4 yrs old i would love to have that show i was the candy man and uncle al said i ate one of the marsh mellow ice cream and i told him i didnt i had fun. and i did eat alot of them and got sick after the show lol. is there a way you could get show or shows of that year would love to know
I was 3-5 years old and living in Dayton in the early-'70s. I had forgotten about Uncle Al until recently and decided to look up the show. Thank you for your years of entertainment, Uncle Al!
Will never forget being on the Uncle Al Show even though I was only 4 or five years old. I ran and jumped on the Barq's Root Beer cooler on wheels when they pushed it on-set. Another memory is how loud his accordion was.
I was on the show in 1973 and was only 5 at the time. I got to be one of the kids on the weather baloon. Anyone else remember that and the song they sang for it?
This is sad news. I just happened to think to search for Uncle Al on YouTube, and saw this. I was on his show when I was in kindergarten back in 1967 or 1968. I still remember that very well. I got to ride on the merry-go-round even though it was not my birthday. Usually the kids with birthdays got to do that. They apparently did not have enough birthday kids that day, and someone put me on the carousel. I remember saying to the person that it was not my birthday, but was told it was OK!
In 1958, Uncle Al used a "birthday slide" and you got slide down if it was your birthday. My brother climbed up to the top of the slide. Uncle Al said, "and how old are you today?" My brother said, "it's not my birthday!" ... and slid down the slide! Live TV ... and the audience roared. Funnier still ... he went up a 2nd time ... and before Uncle Al could catch him ... and slid down again! Great memories of live Cincinnati TV! Uncle Al and Wanda Lewis ...Cincinnati icons!
I used to watch him every day. I was just searching around You Tube and happened to think of Uncle Al..weird that he just died and I haven't been in Cincinnati in over 30 years. He lived in my neighborhood (Watch Hill in Anderson Township)--they were always a nice family.
I was never on the show nor had I seen it before, but I am close friends of his grandchildren and grew up with them. I always enjoyed going to his home to swim with the family. He'll be missed.
We took our children to Uncle Al Show in 1965.......they recall that day as so special! Ann and Lou Kunkel, now in Wisconsin.

I was actually on the Uncle Al Show when I was a little girl. I wish I knew the episode number. I'd love to see it now.

I was on the Uncle Al show in 1970. I wish I could find that episode. And in the same year I was on the Cowboy Bob show in Indy.

They taught me that sticking it in and shaking it all about was very important. The Zen of the Hokey Pokey lives on!
