Flip fucking blows, dude. No optical zoom, shitty sound quality, shitty video quality compared to cameras in its price range, no removable memory, it can't take photos....and are cables and SD cards so hard to find these days? You're much better off getting a PowerShot Elph.

And yes, I know the Flips are discontinued, but I still see gullible kids buying them for 50 to 70 dollars, it's sickening.

@0neofthem back before the flip and CVS camcorders existed, in a (not so) magical year called 2003, I got a digital camera to take pictures and email them. I saw a video mode icon on the mode wheel. I turned the wheel there, and pressed the picture button, it said "recording". i pressed the same button and the video stopped. I was 7 years old and I had figured out how to operate a camera's video mode without instructions.

on the bottom near the place where the tri-pod screws in there is a switch, just slide that over and pull down on the front of the camera wich should open and you pull the front off. hope this helps!

Hey i totally did that too! haha. what you probably did is you deleted a video or 2 on your computer. see when you don't delete a video using the camera it doesn't give you your time back. i did this once and i think what i did to fix it is hooked my camera in, put something in the trash can and deleted it. if that doesn't work pop me a message i would be glad to help. :-D

The flip doesn't pause. You know stop and start recording again by clicking the red button, but there's no actual pause button on it. As for quality...its not remarkable crystal clear HD, but it is surprisingly good for a camera of its size and price.

Thanks SOO much! I actually just went and bought one. I figured out that once you plug your flip in the computer theres a special program that flip offers and you can put together stuff with music and everything. And actaually they were origanily like $120.00 and I went to Walmart and they had JUST marked them down to $49.99 .. so i thought even though it dosent pause. i can live without it. And like you said,the quality isn't HD or anything out it does work pretty good.

This is the best camcorder for most people hands down! Great in low light. I put mine on a regular tripod and shot a workout video that turned out quite nice. It is a bit shaky when hand held but I think you can get experience with it and that won't happen. Gets my vote. Good review, Chris.

I do not recomend them! The zoom makes it look like you are 4 feet closer. The system it comes with is ok but you cant really edit it. You need to transfer it to add music. For someone who is not very into filming it is ok but if you really want to get into filming spend the extra $200.00 to get something with good zoom!

all of the live action vids on my profile were shot with a hacked CVS camcorder but i do plan on buying the Flip Ultra

Basically, people started going to CVS pharmacy and buying the one time use vid cameras. Pure Digital (company that makes flip) made those cameras. anyways, people started buying the cameras (15.00) and modding them so that they can use them over and over without turning the camera in. they attach a USB cable to the top and hacked a program to download the vids. The only differences. flip looks better, it has 2x zoom (CVS camera has no zoom) and the flip USB) really this camera should cost 30.00
