  • @poisonrage Agreed, the noise generated in using the pen is a bit nauseating...

  • This 1.7 mm is equivalent as the music nib in other brands like Platinum or Pilot?

  • Which ink did you use in that handwriting example? Nice Blue!

  • Unplug the power we write more?

  • Nice

  • @thebillcolt Don't hate......appreciate........

  • oh god how is it possible to write cursive with something so broad XD

  • The ink looks like Sheaffer Skrip Blue.

  • what kind of ink is that?

  • the sound of the nib is like grinding the teeth,it's so annoying!

  • tight pen, tight writing . where can I get that pen.where the hell can i

  • tight pen, tight writing . where can I get that pen.

  • Lovely writing and lovely pen. What ink are you using in this video?

  • is there how you make a video with your letters because i like your letter, i want write like your letter because i think that is beautiful

  • m300 is the smallest

  • I'd love to be able to write like that!

The noise the nib is making makes me feel sick though lol

  • @poisonrage i love that noise!

  • @DickHead69able Lol noooooo! I bet you like nails on a chalkboard too? :p

  • Mr. Mottishaw, thanks for this video review of that amazing cust Pelikan nib! I always use your website tips. By the away, i like that color! What color is it? Private Reserve America Blue?

    Best regards,

    Fabricio

  • lol wtf, a caligraphy pen is only for caligraphy, not used for cursive

  • Hi,

I have really good cursive handwriting, and I was wondering if I can perform it without the use of the pelikan nibs or any nibs, possibly something such as a normal ink pen. I tried many different ones, but they all seem to cut when I try to write too fast or make extreme turns with the letters, I tried a fine ink pen from sharpies and Micro 207 from uniball, I really need help on this one, so I would really appreciate your opinion. Thank you

  • best video on pens I've ever seen

  • I'd kill for a handwriting like that

  • I was thinking the same thing.

  • @406646 it's ok, mine is better

  • @406646 you don't have to kill, but practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice and practice

  • @406646 I'd commit genocide

  • @406646 please don't. Its a felony.

  • The nib squeaks because he is applying too much pressure. He doesn't know how to write with a fountain pen. You can even notice how the nib bends, ouch!! poor nib!!

  • ah bah there is no "right way" to write with a fountain pen.

there is only writing with a fountain pen.

(or any pen, for that matter.)

    yes, he presses hard.

so that's how he does it.

    pressing hard.

    and you don't.

so one is hard on his nib, the other isn't.

    that's all.

    end of story.

  • Some pen nibs are MADE to bend. Check out copperplate writing. One needs an especially flexible nib for that type of writing. Same with italics.

  • Dude, this is Jim Mottishaw, and is a renowned nibmeister in the fountainpen circles; i.e. he makes a living by customizing nibs. What you're alluding to is like saying Larry King doesn't know how to speak.

  • @squidster3128 You can't help that some people are just retarded. After seeing this video I want to buy a pen with this nib. It creates very beautiful writing.

  • Why does your nib squeak??? A good smooth nib shouldn't squeak...no offence just a question.

  • i dont like the squealing it gives me goosebumps

  • lol I love that sound

  • can u do a swan 4500

  • Is there a reason as to why you write "Egypt" at the end?

  • It's a word that has a lot of descenders for its' length; in the "g," "y," and "p."

Descenders are good for showing any line width variation, which is what Italics have, (though not as much as flex nibs.)

  • @NeoQuello Dude, you went to every fountain pen video posting this...did you ever get those pens? Just curious.

  • What a beautiful handwriting!

  • lol your kidding right O.O

  • Dear Mr Mottisaw. I do have a very nice OMAS broad italic, customized by you, and let me tell you that you are a real artist! The best and most skillful nib master around! Thanks for your great job! Very bets Ricardo Garcia Sandoval

  • wait... a stump can be put on a variety of nibs?

the nib is what give the pen its font moron!

Unless... you can better explain exactly what you said...

Sorry, I hate when somone is unclear...

  • he said 'stub', not 'stump' meaning the nib could be tuned to a stub point....

  • What he is referring to is the custom job he did on the nib. That is what they can do to a host of nibs, which then creates that particular effect.

  • I'm also sorry, as I hate it when someone can't even see straight. Furthermore, pen doesn't have a FONT. You can install fonts in a computer, but pen doesn't have FONTs. It only has ink.

  • @squidster3128 Excuse me for having a lack of a better word... dont be an ass to me please...

  • A stub is a italic nib with round shoulders (instead of square shoulders on a Italic)

  • Very Good Stuff. Thanks!

Also your tips on nib smoothing, on your website are very helpful.
