Military spending is only 20% of the federal budget and 5% of GDP. Entitements(Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security) are 60% of the federal budget. Entitlements are the main driver of the debt. Not military spending or wars.

@Hopsinwreck US public debt is $10.597 trillion. The $16 trillion figure is inter-governmental debt. This is money that one branch of government owes to another branch. It is very diffrent. Military spending is only 20% of the federal budget and 5% of GDP. Entitements(Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security) are 60% of the federal budget. Entitlements are the main driver of the debt. Not military spending or wars.
