  • Love the shirt :))

  • what did u sign at 1.21 seems like u sign chair gone?

  • @crystal20ak I signed "train leave" which is an ASL idiom similar to, "Missed the boat."

  • Nice video! I did this song for my ASL 3 class last year! Oh, and your shirt is awesome and makes the video a million times better (not saying that it was bad before) haha

  • Good work! Stress your facial expression, but the signing is there. Keep on doing what you're doing! I started recording a few interpretations myself...they're on my channel if you're interested! (yes...I too did a backstreet boys song :P)

  • Good talent, but really need to move your body and facial expressions to convey the beat and rhythm of th music. Keep on practicing..

  • Im Deaf, I use to sign English, but took an ASL class, So take an ASL class and u will be much better over time!

  • I was just like you once upon a time. But if you take an ASL class, you will learn to sing pure ASL. No english or PSE.

  • great job but i have to admit ur shirt was distracting me haha!

  • great job!

  • cool shirt

  • Awesome :)

  • I think You are Awesome ...just sayin lol

  • This isn't ASL, this is more SEE. >.>

  • @lyndsiwhitman Yeah, I figured... the distinction is mainly order, isn't it? And letter sign incorporation, I think?

  • @iWearAmask Sort of. There are a lot of NMS (Non-manual signs) that are used like different facial expression for the degree of boredom. Also that way things are signed like you have to think bigger than the song lyrics. Like the the words may say " I want it that way" but what to they want and which way.

  • @iWearAmask You can contact me if you have more questions. I am happy to help.

  • @iWearAmask Yes, and ASL would be more conceptual... I.E instead of saying "You are my fire", one might sign "You are my passion". Maybe change the title from American Sign Language to Manually Coded English? Or Signed Exact English? Very important distinction.

  • i love this song.... i want to learn more about American sign language..... its very interesting... but good job with the song.... (:

  • Have you communicated with deaf people yet? I recommend it. They can help.

  • Congrats you looked very passionate when you were doing this.

  • Thanks Very Much!

P.S. We all wear a mask, yours is nice!

  • @soffitboy Haha I'll admit I'm not exactly sure what you mean... in any case, the mask I reference in my username can be seen in this video on the mirror behind me, to the right. :)

  • this is cute

  • I would like to start learning myself. What sites have helped you so far? Suggestions?

  • @BjGard- I use ASLPro and SigningSavvy, and a book called The Complete Idiot's Guide to Conversational Sign Language, haha. (For reference only, not translation.)

The best way to learn is by watching, though, and YouTube is great for that. I've learned much more from videos than from any site.

That said, I commend your interest! Best of luck to you!

    -Olivia

  • This was very good. How long and how did you learn ASL?

  • @BjGard Thank you so much! :) Your comment means a lot.

I've been teaching myself ASL out of pure interest through the Internet since mid-March.
