  • Wow, I love this version. I think so many can really relate to these new lyrics. For me, they are so autobiographical, it's kinda scary.

  • I mean shit... who hasn't felt this way at some point.

    R.I.P. my main man, WZ.

  • Damn it's been a while since a song made me tear up. Zevon is my new favorite songwriter of all time.

  • warren was the best. wonderfully talented and emotional raw. too bad he had to die to be appreciated. i loved his music from the very first and i miss his wit and voice.

  • This version is the story of my life

  • "The greedy just get greedier and the vulnerable get burned"

That works on so many levels.

  • Warren was my hero in the 70's. Never forgot a horrible experience in the " Stadium" gig in Dublin. He turned up with his guitar and there was nearly a riot cause people were pissed off that he had no band with him ( days before unplugged was cool), didn't matter to me cause i was just so privileged to hear and see the MAN.

Hope he is at peace now.....:)

  • Warren wore his heart on his sleeve, there was no pretense in his demeanor, what you saw was what you got...@kaninz,of course he was angry;at himself, his lover, and he was doing what he did best, spilling his guts for all the world to see

  • Wow, I think I like this version better than the one that was released on Excitable Boy.

  • i wish i'd heard of him 20yrs ago and got to see him live a few times ,to me he's as good as dylan

  • Wow. I think he wrote this about ME and a horrible, using, codependant ex that I couldn't leave.

Warren, you were a man of incredible thought and foresight. The world needs more like you. Enjoy every sandwich.

  • Get the audio from this song at thetunify doht cohm.

  • He sounds PISSED!

  • I'm sorry...I like this...but the song from "Excitable Boy" is my favorite song by him, and I can't find it anywhere on youtube

  • @myklj999 What song from excitable boy are you after?

  • @captainrock2002 I was after the OTHER version of "Accidentally Like A Martyr", but I purchased it on vinyl finally a few weeks ago...

  • This is a great version of this song. Warren could change one of his sad songs about loss and make it sound almost upbeat. What a genius he was!!

  • this is the version where warren was in a happy mood. save me a drink mr. zevon.

  • "Such a naive kid" the greatest lyric ever, jesus sometimes I wish i had 1% of warrens dignity and courage, Ten

  • I'm actually hearing this for the very first time, and by the end of the first chorus I'm just shaking my head and saying "Fuck!" in amazement.

  • This is the BEST version of this song! The photos in this video are precious. I am buying the Preludes CD. I love you, Warren. Please Rest In Peace. January 24, 1947 – September 7, 2003

  • I LOVE this version!

  • AMEN !

  • this is a really god drinking song, really! You should try it! Get drunk and listen to this song!

  • @boiledhooker

Doing that now my friend, big bottle of port here, gonna stick this on repeat and think about how much women mess with us! Cheers!

  • @boiledhooker aye!!

  • @boiledhooker aye!!

    cheers!

  • My father had this on the exitable boy album, but this sounds different. How many versions of this song are there?

  • This was the unreleased version onf Preludes, and album released in recent year. While this is very good, the released one is far better, it far more emotional and actually brings a tear to my eye.

  • @bh7744 this version was on the "previously unreleased recordings" album I think.

  • DON'T EVER TAKE THIS DOWN!!

  • This version is the best . At one time there was version of this on Late Night Crooks and lairs with some great tango performers. Liked it the best. Wish it was back up. In the meantime thanks for this.

  • R.I.P Génius!!!

  • More venemous, not as melancholy.

  • @vicdeakin I agree

  • What a legend

  • Yeah, this version sounds a lot cooler than the original. Like you said, it has a nice swagger to it.

  • WZ wasa genius. I actually like this version better than the original. "Enjoy every sandwich." RIP.

  • Preludes was the first WZ album I bought with Accidentally Like a Martyr. The other version doesn't even sound like the same song! I also like this one better. It has a certain swagger to it. The original version has a sad tone to it.

  • @ magadorspartacus: It is probably just the order in which you listened to the versions (and the familiarity with the versions) that decided your liking. I listened to the album version first, and I liked that for years before this one came out. Both are great versions.

  • idk I listened to the more somber version first and listened to it for years before discovering this one. I kinda like this one more although I gotta say theyre both great songs =]

  • @ncreedypowers11: Sure. Even I like this version more, since it is more negative and dark.

  • ditto..........
