Oh my God, why did they NOT write it to be longer and put this on an album? Such a badass tune! And I would have never guessed it to sound like it does, judging by the title I thought it would be a ballad of some sorts. This happens with most artists, a lot of their unreleased stuff is some of their best material, and it boggles my mind as to why those always end up being cast aside.
@IAmPlaysWithSquirrel ....Good catch! Never even noticed Freddie's goatee. Good question too. But hey, it's Freddie! He can do or sing whatever and it's magic!
Wow. Tonight I have heard a wasted song. Freddie is in top form vocally and this track really drives! Makes ya wonder how much other great stuff they passed on. Teh again, if it were anyone but Freddie singing this, it may be just another rock tune.
What comes to my mind is that they must have thought their other stuff should be released asap and forgot this one. Surely Freddie could have worked this song into something.
You can hear the edgier feel to Fred's voice here so well. Kinda how it sounded in the 80's. Except i prefer how his voice sounded in the 70's, nothing against his 80's voice, but it just had more natural and pure emotion to it, but during the 80's it seemed like Fred was trying to be someone the media and press could eat up. But in the 70's he experimented, tried unique styles, and took huge risks. Not to say I want to break free wasn't a publicity stunt ;]
Vocals and guitar near the end remind me of Led Zeppelin.Infact I've heard a few of these "secret"early tracks and have heard this in those aswell.I'm not saying they are copying Zep so please don't give me negative comments. What I mean to say is that alot of rock around this era had that sort of sound that's all. Queen sorted out their own unique sound, one that everybody tries to emulate. But I'm sure even they had their influences back in the early '70s.
Queen has SO many greatest "secret hits"......like all the ones only true Queen fans know and love: Lily Of The Valley, Misfire, Ride The Wild Wind, Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow, It's A Hard Life, Nevermore, Sheer Heart Attack, Breakthru, Tear It Up, All God's People, and on and on....They're all Fabulous!!! And would have all been hits had they been given more airplay!
Man On The Prowl, Don't Try Suicide...So many songs & styles.....QUEEN!!---->>>most eclectic & creative-->BEST BAND EVER!!!
@Madiloveslife ...Why, thank you very much. It's true, though; just think of all the lovely & fantastic songs that never got proper exposure, and compare those Queen gems to all the lame stuff that's out there.
It's tragic that masterpieces like Fairy Feller's Master Stroke, Dead On Time, et al, never got airplay, while other groups' crap got shoved down our throats.
Even Freddie's Stone Cold Crazy, credited to be the 1st thrash song, only saw the light of day cuz Metallica covered it. :(
@FREDDIEMANIAC yes and moore like chat back, dog whit a bone ,hangman, human body, body language ,pain is so close to pleasure, self made man and more...!!
ALL THESE DEMOS AND OUTTAKES FROM THE GREATEST POST-BEATLES BAND SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR
E V E R Y O N E! 10cd BOX SET? I WOULD AUCTION OFF MY MUM TO GET ALL THESE QUEEN SONGS. WHY AREN'T THEY AVAILABLE?... YOU KNOW THEY WOULD SELL... OI, FAN CLUBBERS, PETITION TODAY!!
Decent tune, good vocals. Freddie handled these rock songs much better back then. Towards the Miracle/Innuendo sessions his voice became almost too polished to perform rock songs like these.
@classicrockrockz i agree it does my head in,they should remaster complete and release them i hope on the future queen anthology,i hope im alive when they do
I love their one-takers. If only Freddy sang those high notes in concert.

Not cause his voice was polished. He was dying from AIDS. His voice gave out before he died

REALLY disagree. He recorded Mother Love right near the end and sounded amazing.
