TheRandomosityExpert is completely wrong. This version sounds like a tribute - lovingly done. The singing and playing is so passionate! It has the feel of Bruce & the E Street band. Chris isn't trying to make his voice sound like Bruce, but he has all of his emotion. I will now correct TheRandomosityExpert: This is a beautiful & touching rendition of one of the best songs of all time...right down to referencing the fantastic (& terribly missed already) Clarence Clemons...RIP Big Man...& Thank you
@TheRandomosityExpert guess you feel foolish now huh? I seem to remember Bruce thought this was great. I love the original an dthis makes it even more special.
Just saw a Bruce Springstein cover band Thunder Road last night in Dallas TX. They played Born to Run as their last song. Made me think of this song since I heard the Sesame Street version first as a kid lol
i love that this is so accurate that just like the Boss, u can't understand most of what the puppet is saying. :) major love to Springsteen and Sesame Street.
Sesame Streets of Fire, lol! I read a lot of comments about how kids' shows today aren't as good as this. That may well be true, but keep in mind that most shows back then weren't as good as this either. Sesame Street was one of those "once in a blue moon" shows that creatively towered over everything else, and is very probably one of the few mass media milestones that truly deserves its high place in the pop culture pantheon.
Check out the 4th cop that shows up around 1:40. He's looking around all confused and thinking "What the fuck is going on here?" Then at about 2:13 he's like "Oh well fuck it!" and starts dancing around.

Part of the genius of vintage Sesame Street is that it didn't treat kids as if they were stupid, and this is a prime example. I hope Bruce liked this cause he should. This is pure magic!
I know times always change but sesame street doesn't have that same magic to it. eventhough i'm an adult if the show was still an creative and special as it was then i would sit and watch it, im not ashamed to admit to watching it. I do think that when jim hanson creator of the muppets died the magic died to we miss you jim
@patricia1138 That is SO true!! It seems that the "Spark" went after Jim did...even though his son is WAY talented. I still watch it too, but I do prefer the "vintage" skits!
i remember when i was a little girl, i had a sesame street tape and brought it to class to listen to during lunch, and so popular until the teachers made a copy, and no one relied on me to bring it anymore, but it was still awesome :)
bad part is it kinda is.....think about it, this was made in 1977, two years after Born to Run. Sesame Street still parodies hits of the day.....only instead of Springsteen it's Destiny's Child and things of that nature. I think the real question is why can't the music scene be like this nowadays?
They're trying to like remove the sound from this vid!! =[ they said it's copyright infrindgement(sp?) but i say, let it play! lol yeah i have 2 accounts i just don't feel like signing into lesles92 ;-]
Lol Bruce should add this to his next set list but LOL FRIGGEN LOL!! OMGSH..this song brings back so many memories. I used to listen to this so many times at night a few years ago.
Sesame street is so watered down now.. I am glad I grew up @ the time I did cuz that's when tv was best (in the 90s) I don't think cartoons can ever outdo that decade!
It's because Jim Henson died and his son sold everything to Disney. Jim was a genius when it came to this sort of stuff. Muppets are still my favorite tv show of all time.
An inspiring, passionate rendition, definitely my favourite sesame street musical performance ever. They did a lot of clever parodies with great, versatile musicianship but this ranks top for the blazing, heartfelt vocal. Isn't youtube fantastic for this stuff? Thanks for posting it, Lesles92

Actually, from the melody, it's a mixture of the two. The intro and a bit of the verses seem to be parodying Jungleland while the chorus is definately done to parody Born to Run. Kind of a double tribute to the boss! And Chris Cerf did an amazing job!
Yeah--when I was a kid I could hardly understand any of the words in any songs (actually, I still can't. It's weird.) So I would sing along to whatever nonsense syllables my brain heard them as. (I knew it was really words, but for the life of me I couldn't make them out.)

This parody is very catchy.
I like how they mention the Jersey, which is so Bruce.
Also, the saxophonist's name is Clarice (correct if I'm wrong), which is close to Clarence as in Clarence Clemons

They've just lost this brilliance with Sesame Street over the years.
The subtly of teaching kids relatively advanced concepts for their age though this kind of wonderful FUN and GREAT stuff...
Seriously, the layers on layers of work they put into it...
*sigh* Modern TV just can't come close to this kind of vintage stuff...
