"But over and over they allow him to be called 'Doctor Who'". Now there's irony, for you. Did the BBC know the oldest question before we viewers did?
@Monkofmagnesia Considering I put this up 4 months ago, I think I hit most of the marks dead on! I just missed the Amy Pondy Model with her being in Movies.... so very close!
@StarcoGAMES The movie is called "Downfall" (or Der Untergang in German). You should be able to get a DVD version with the subtitles on it from Netflix or a similar service.
@Kharandis This video was done the moment they announced the title of the episode. While I didn't hate the episode it had a lot to like, I didn't love it either. They really wasted the Hitler stuff. They could have just about cut Hitler out of the "Downfall" film and saved a few extra bucks.
I found it interesting that in this episode they showed an early version of River Song as a black lady. It was speculated that after David Tennant that the next actor to play Dr. Who would be black. They are showing that a time lord can appear to be any race and maybe any gender after they regenerate. This really opens up the possibilities of what the next Dr. Who will be.
@powerone1 That's very true! And there were some great names circulating between Tennant and Smith. Paterson Joseph, and Colin Salmon come to mind, both had already appeared in Who, and both would have been amazing at playing him. Also in "The Doctor's Wife" they said a certain timelord had been both male and female at least twice.
@Nimm2DuschDas I think I addressed this before, but will do so again. When you parody Hitler, (i.e. Disney, The Three Stooges, or Benny Hill) we use fürher, not führer. It's just one more way comedians used to berate him.
I loved the Rani line, but "Moffat is not known for doing romantic comedy" is my favorite. Now all I can think about is who Rory's got to hide his copy of "Lesbian Spank Inferno" every time he dies.
i think the earth is a tardis if you see in the impossible astronaut river says there is tunnels going all around the globe and one of the tunnels leads to the remake of the tardis we see in the lodger! either that or amys house is a tardis!
@JamieHowitt It's a stupid plot. It worked on Star Trek for maybe one or two episodes, but ultimately you're cheating the audience essentially wasting their time because what's the point of experiencing something that ultimately holds no weight or consequence for your protagonists? It's just as bad as a reboot ending. If not WORSE.
@KeaneshapedTardis Except it does. *Spoilers ahead if you didn't watch the video and just scrolled down*
Amy murders someone. It doesn't matter if that timeline gets erased, for Amy that still happened, and she has to live with it. I don't know about you, but I'd call that "weight and consequence for the protagonists" :P
@JamieHowitt How does she remember exactly? They still haven't explained why Rory can still remember being a Centurion even though that wasn't really Rory. And how is that River still had her Tardis diary at the end of Big Bang if The Doctor never existed? Last season ended on a massive cop-out, so I can only expect the same when it comes to this season's and storyline's "resolution". Same for whoever the "antagonist" is- it's just as bad as Buffy's last season- vague big bads never work.
@JamieHowitt Not to mention, but this series has been very sloppy in terms of "tone". Not only has Amy witnessed her husband die multiple times, realize she's been abducted and placed in some sort of vat thing, but she's also had her daughter taken from her- and yet, watching the show, you'd never guess all that was going on. Moffat should stick to sitcoms, cos his mojo is lost in translation with Who.
@KeaneshapedTardis She saw Rory die twice - the first time drove her to commit suicide (albiet in a dream), and the second time (his real death) left her distraught, and almost had the same breakdown when he almost drowned in series 6.
Episode 7 was set some time after she realised she had been abducted, and we haven't seen Amy since her baby was taken, so I don't see how those are valid points either :)
@JamieHowitt For the scene when they happened there was gravitas. But that's it. I've yet to see her mature at all as a character. She's a static as you can get. At least with past companions we saw some depth and arcs. We've been with these characters for over a season and a half and there's been NO growth.
@KeaneshapedTardis You don't think there's a difference between Series 5 Amy and Series 6 Amy? I thought there was - she seems more content and happy/calm in Series 6. Probably because she has parents in this universe.
Also, Rory starts treating the Doctor more like a friend than competition. Doesn't that qualify as character growth? :P
@JamieHowitt No, cos frankly she's just as flat and boring as she's been since "Beast Below". Don't get me wrong, she started off with a lot of promise in the premiere, but it soon became evident there actually isn't much to her character. There isn't even much to like- I mean, Rory makes a much more interesting companion and likeable companion. Whenever Amy mistreats him she just comes across like an ungrateful b****.
@JamieHowitt Rory and The doctor? No competition? Um, did you miss Day of the Moon when Rory pretty much resented the fact Amy was "probably" talking about The Doctor? I think you're getting this confused with the fact that Rory's been de-balled after "Vampires of Venice" when he actually was out to show up The Doctor. Since then, like with the Silurians- Amy goes missing, Rory asks where she is, Doctor says he'll handle it, Rory's like ::shrug:: w/e. Again____ no growth.
@JamieHowitt Now THAT I do agree :o) actually, that went over much more nicely than most arguments I've had regarding this topic! Pleasure 'arguing' with you, sir. ::tips hat::
I lolled when Hitler said anyone who though the Rani, Omega, or the Valeyard were involved had to leave. I think it's possible Omega is involved, but The Rani should be dead.
And while were talking about classic who ideas, I'm still waiting for them to make an episode called "The Four Doctors" in the New Who series.
You have to wait one doctor until after the Smith era Eccleston really don't want anything to do with Doctor Who. Off course if Moffat and Davis are no longer involved he might just change his mind. @anonymouspyro
I don't think World War II is timelocked. I think It's one of those fixed points in time, like Pompeii, or the destruction of Bowie Base 1 on Mars. He can still visit it, he just shouldn't interfere, or bad things happen.
@Mandibulari YES! YOU DO! I've spoken with German Doctor Who fans only a few years back. We we're talking about the Daleks in a current episode, so don't give me that lying crap!!!
@Mandibulari Sorry. It must really suck to not be able to watch the latest Doctor Who episodes. You're really missing out! But, I do wonder if the next Doctor Who episode is going to be a tad insensitive!
@iveseenspikynorman LOL you are correct! There actually is two typos in this one. I've fixed them on the master copy, but here there will always be two.
@TKane001 This talked about what happened in AGMGTW a week before it came out. Plus I mention many things that will happen in Epsiode 13. So those are the spoilers.
@fuckoff6142 Haven't, but have seen the video from episode 13 floating around where Amy and River are talking in an eatery about the aborted timeline. Plus the video from the BBC where Meridith Viera talks about Churchill riding a mammoth, which is also from episode 13.
@Kelvington ok im lost i have only watched series 6 up to episode 7 how did you watch episode 8 9 10 11 12 and 13... and dont tell me your a time traveler -.- please xd
@MGOWNER1 Nope, Time Travel was not involved, but just like I said before, haven't seen the last episodes, but have seen the video from episode 13 floating around where Amy and River are talking in an eatery about the aborted timeline. Plus the video from the BBC where Meridith Viera talks about Churchill riding a mammoth, which is also from episode 13.
LOL this was great but I have to agree with Hilter(wow never thought I would say that) his life IS a fix point in time and it annoyes me SO badly when everyone calls him Doctor Who augh.
@AceTrax2007 Oh yea, I know. It's meant to be a parody, like the song, "Der Fürher's Face". In the '30's and '40's when they were making fun of Hitler they use "Fürher", not Führer. Just FYI. :)
