I am using the Motorola modem I bought directly from them, with a higher end cisco router. If I call them, they give me the old well unplug the modem and wait ten seconds spiel bout it. Thinking of paying them each month based on service, documenting slow days.. They can drop me if they like...if you're not delivering what you're selling you don't have much ground to stand on.
@5IveNDlme I too get annoying at the unplug spiel...but it's very basic troubleshooting..you can beat to the punch and say you've restarted off your devices...
I have been getting very sporadic dl speeds with teksavvy lately. I pay for the extreme package, I have seen my dl speed drop below 1mb and go as high as 25 in the last week. It has been slow more then fast though. As well, I can very rarely play a 720p youtube file. Maybe 1 out of 15 times I try. I have it hard wired to a 6 month old mac mini, and hard wired to a 1 year old macbook pro. They may not throttle, but they do oversell areas. Their tech told me, said they hope to get more bandwidth.
@5IveNDlme I noticed poor video streaming on my end...i get very aggravated at times. But I've moved out of my home an are no longer subscribed to TekSAvvy...until I move into the new house.
@SalsTavern so what is the average speed on rogers i am usin 12mbps and i get 10kb utorrent and what about your other file transfering speed not on utorrent thanks i subscibed
I got a 100/100 running at home for about 1.2K a month which is a really good deal, I upgraded from a 10/10 and that cost 0.6K a month, so its double the price and 10x the bandwidth.
I got the 24 mb service and i got 5mbps with the powerline adapter i got pissed and tried ethernet which in turn gave me on average 48mbps and max 75 mbps THAT IS FUCKING CRAZY (with docsis 3 of course)
@sepehrsb change your modem to a cisco e1000 which you can get from tigerdirect for 20 bucks and it will give you 24mbps it gives me 44 but my connection is probably better
Teksavvy is a Rogers' re-seller. If you have a problem, Rogers techs deal with it at $115 (including GST). And problems always seem to happen. For example, that modem that you bought from Rogers will somehow not work on Teksavvy. You are then billed $82 for another modem.
Sign up with Teksavvy for transfer from Rogers. Pay initiation fee of $100. Be subject to $115 Rogers chargers and $82 for modem. You WILL pay $300 before setup.
@restorativejustice99 There is no initiation fee of $100, theres a $45 activation fee for cable internet but even thats reduced by $20 if u buy a modem from them. My first bill came to about $170, and that included the start up fee, modem and first month. Im now paying $42 a month (thats with tax) and receiving 20-30 Mbps download speeds while paying for 10 and having a 300 GB bandwidth cap. BTW when Rogers FIRST come in to setup your internet you dont get charged the $115, thats after
@restorativejustice99 Teksavvy is in chatham while rogers are saving canadian labor and fucking our economy by giving those jobs to india, ALSO DUDE ROGERS LOCKS THEIR FUCKING MODEM IT WON'T WORK WITH ANYONE I USE MY OWN MODEM AND I AM GETTING 60 MBPS DOWN AND I AM PAYING FOR 24, the technicians have to be rogers because well teksavvy does not have any in toronto because they are not a big corporation..yet
@jordler I just switched from Robbers a week ago(10 days before my disconnect date with them). Nobody had to come out. I just plugged in my new modem and have been good ever since.
.50MB upload is fine for any game you will play its the ping that really matters and 10 is fucken awesome! and did u see how it went up to 30 MB then went down great for small file downloads and web pages. seriously fuck bell and rogers with there overpriced shit that never even hits the max your paying for as well as there super small download caps. its about time company like Teksavvy give us a good deal.
