  • Drowned in left pedal, phrasing is unclear, notes are missing here and there, and when the faster notes start in the right around 2:35, she totally loses track of the melody in the left hand. Incredibly overrated pianist. Why listen to this when you can listen to Gilels?

  • @Tursunzore Exactly!!! :-))

  • you can find the sheet music on scribd.com

  • Zoltan Kocsis transcription but she played the short version (without repeats)

  • @bloodgrss This performance does not have a single note of musicality in it - there are many 10-12 year-olds on YT who play with much more musicality :-))

  • DAAAAMN who transcribed this!!!?!?!?!

    It's not Richardson!

  • please someone can send me the Sheet music to piano of this ?? :((((( !!!

  • brilliance and beauty, I bow before you in admiration, but I stand up straight in inspiration :)

  • Yuja Wang... One MusicWoMan!

  • unglaublich schönes stück, und unglaublich schön gespielt. wie kann man das nicht mögen?? hier ist ein kostenloser replay-button: 0:00 für alle die diese interpretation auch so oft anhören, wie ich :-)

  • where is the 1st Ballade ? )))))):

  • the first time i heard this, i could stop hearing it for hours

  • which college did she study piano?

  • People talking about versions from Ashkenazy and Kocsis, neither of which is good. Gilels is BOSS on this, the transcription of Rachmaninov's Vocalise (which he did not write for piano)

  • @sammarco02 Ashkenazy plays Kocsis' version you nut.

  • how immensely beautiful. i remember running into this video a few years ago and being reluctant to recognize what my ears were hearing -- just another asian chick who can play the heck out of the piano. it was easy, almost comforting to assume that pose. but now that the years have passed and this blessed creature has maintained and expanded the magic that pervades everything she takes on, it is apparent that she is UNDENIABLY one of the greats. Yuja Wang.

  • omg..its so beautifull!!:))

  • Valentina is Brava..!Not Yuja...

  • Very beautiful. I feel so touched. I hear a sensitive heart crying silently inside.

  • very good

  • Beauty...as always, dear Yuja!

  • My daughter was in band. One year, the band director died in a car crash. I found my daughter sitting in her room crying & listening to this piece. She told me "This is the saddest song in the world." I think she is right, and Yuja plays it with such sensitivity.

  • Doesn't any body have the sheets to exactly this piece?!

  • Accepting that the recording quality is not the greatest, her performance nonetheless is the best of the Zoltan Kocsis-version transcriptions on Youtube. It's marvelous how she brings out the many different voices in the closing section (with the running filigree of notes), which you don't hear on any of the other performances -- this is phenomenally difficult to achieve (I know because I have the score and have been trying to emulate her!)

  • @HTinWeho

What about he transcriber? It's also on YouTube. I find Ashkenazy a little bit boring. Yuja hasn't big hands but very skillfully uses them.

  • @Kris9kris: Thanks for pointing out the Ashkenazy and Kocsis performances. I agree with you -- the Ashkenazy rendition "plods" along, with little lyricism. Listening to him and Yuja, I realize they both added some notes to the closing section (with the running filigree of notes) to create voices that Rachmaninoff had in his original but which Kocsis omitted in his transcription.

  • @Kris9kris Yeah I bet she skillfully uses them.

  • Bad. Wrong tempo, voice doesn't emerge at all.

  • @hymnofashes Okay, response the right one.

  • Richardson's transcription

  • Pretty piece of music.

  • Does anyone know, who transcribed this piece to a piano-only version?

  • ...brava Yuja ....excellent....

  • Bravo

  • Para todos los que amamos la Música.

  • Para todos los que amamos la Música

  • is it just me or everyone that she seemed 2 shine ?_?

  • looks like Curtis Institute of music

  • @sergeyyak Yes, it is!

  • This isn't very good. The balance of her two hands here is not good at times. Saw her twice at concerts. She has very fast hands, but when it comes to slow movements, she is not musical - lacks depth in her playing. Maybe she will be better when she gets older. Wish her the best.

  • @bachpiano1 So, you are pianist, i think. Please post your interpretation of this piece to know what do you mean, because im not understand why you said that... Regards.

  • i saw ms. wang at the chicago symphony center last night and it was magical especially her set of scriabin preludes and etudes. she is one to treasure. she didn't play this but she did play the gluck...amazing, beautiful...yuja.

  • BRAVA!

  • Not really the best of Yuja; rather woolly in conception & execution. The transcription is neither richly sophisticote, (à la Wild),nor pure & faithful, just somewhere between. She should rework the idea, or adopt one of the more distinguished versions.

  • @NOSEhow2LIV agreed.

  • @NOSEhow2LIV i dont think its her own version, it is the Zoltan Kocsis version. but i agree, there are more beautiful versions of this piece..

  • @hotbebimauz Gilels performance is worth listening to :-))

  • Agree with the last comment, this is just plain muddled mush, what technique? clarity?

  • I disagree to other comments, here. This is one of the worst things I have heard from Yuja. Generally she is quite strong technically, but poetically she usually lack a lot. let us see how she develops at this area in the future.

  • so poetic!

  • Perfect!!!! I love it!!! beautiful!! can't explain it!

  • sehr schön

  • extremely beautyfully played, yuja has not only an outstanding technique but also true musicality...

  • Meravigliosa musica...suonata dalla meravigliosa Yuja Wang...pianista "excellent"
