was easy enough to sync up the sh 201 to your Mc groovebox? im thinking of syncing up my MPC 2500 to my roland sh 201 soon, for some fun.havnt made music like this in ages....
All you need to do is connect your midi out from the MPC to the Midi In on the SH201. The only problem i had with the 201 was that i could not enable midi through
Yeah, mine works just fine. I got 3 pieces of gear + my computer sync'ed up. I've just followed the manual for each piece's midi setup. Using an Electribe MX-1 as master clock/note source, through the SH-201 and into a KP3. Changing the BPM on the EMX-1 changes it all the way through. And then i switch around the midi channels on the EMX-1 depending on what i want controlled by which track etc. Sadly i cant tell you anything that isnt in the manual.
you seem like some one who has a great knowledge of groove boxes so i need your advice, i have a m-audio usb interface and a korg k25, i'm also planing on getting a ni maschine so what do you suggest i get with it ( like software and stuff)
thats a tough question. I mean you cant go wrong with Maschine and your k25 as its a powerfull combo for beatz and sampling but the rest would be up to your needs. What are you trying to do? What kind of styles do you want to make ? Do you already have a DAW like Ableton Live or Cubase ? Do you plan on doin live gigs ?
i will be making electro type music ( a mix between pop, and r&b with synth sounds) I have no other programs just that bull shit audacity for vocals and thats it. i do plan on doing some live stuff with the maschine too
In this case i think maschine really is a great start point. Try to learn Maschine as good as you can and once you feel you mastered it you can go for a small synth like the bloefeld which can be sequenced from Maschine with the next Systemupdate :)
Hey thanx for the nice words. The Synth in the back is the Roland SH201 pretty good and cheap VA Synth. Its actually the VA Part from Rolands awesome VSynth.
actually thats pretty easy if you got a little bit of funk in your veins. All you need to begin with is the Roland MC-808 which is also pretty cheap at the moment.
nothing special there. I record everything with my MacBook Pros built in isight. All you need is Quicktime Pro and your set. Its a little bit tricky sometimes to deal with the delay in the sound but besides that it rules.
TODESGEIL! :D
man this jam realy rocks!!
i got one 201 too. but i realy need some drummachine or something for the beat.
keep it up you realy own!! deep dark acid stuff is the best of all!

Yeah it was no big deal, i could sync the 201 to midi clock and it was also sequenced from the 808. 25k and 201 sounds like even more fun ;)

cool,thanks for the speedy reply!
and one more question, did you need to use the MIDI In and OUT on your SH-201 or just the MIDI IN?

Gogo manual. There's a feature to enable midi-through in the hidden midi-settings.

Hey Marc,
i actually did read the manual and set it up accordingly but no matter what i did, it never sent midi clock through. Did you get tit working ?
Cheers

The 808 has sounds on it when you buy it, but when he isn't useing those he can also get the sounds from that nice synth in the background.
